I need you to read this and I hope beyond hope that it finds you somehow.

I’ve heard people say the night is darkest before the dawn. I like that, but it’s wishful thinking. It’s true that a new day brings new beginnings, but more often than not, with each dawn also comes new challenges and sometimes new losses.

I could make a list as long as my arm of those brothers, sisters and, more recently, friends that I’ve lost. Could I have done something? Should I have done something? There’s a fine balance between right and wrong, I’ve learned that more and more. I haven’t always tread as carefully as I meant to, but no one can ever say I haven’t always tried.

Should I have rebelled for the Winchesters? No, but it was worth while. Should I have helped Crowley with purgatory? Absolutely not. Could I have stopped Metatron? A lot of the angels seem to think so.

But my biggest question, is could I have helped you? I tried to get to you but they were too quick and much more vicious than I expected. I tried to heal you, I’m sorry, I tried so hard but it was too late. You said something then, as you bled out, as I sat by you. Do you remember what it was?

“It’s okay. I love you.”

The worst part is, you were gone before I could reply. Despite your wound, you said it with such strength. Strength that in that moment, I didn’t have. So I’m writing this now.

Wherever you are, Y/N, you have to know that I am so sorry. I’m sorry, and I love you too.
