You know how in mermaid stories, the mermaid is typically the dumber one? I present to you the "and they were both scientists" plot.

Basically the concept is that mermechs and regular mechs can't talk to each other. But luckily even if they speak different languages they still use the same math~

(154) TFP/IDW1 fusion: Misfire is carrying a very important item for the Decepticons. (It's probably blueprints for some unstoppable weapon or something, but it doesn't really matter what it is, only that it's important and the Cons want it.) This wouldn't usually be his job, because he is the last person anyone would reasonably entrust with such a mission—but in his defence, he is literally the only remaining Decepticon available to carry it to Megatron on Earth. But when he crash lands on Earth, he is first discovered dazed and damaged by the Autobots, and, being a relative unknown, simply pretends to... always have been an Autobot. Obviously.

Meanwhile, Megatron is of course waiting on this very important item and growing impatient. Ratchet plucks a communication concerning the item out of the airwaves, and the Autobots commence hunting for the mysterious object so they can get to it before the Decepticons.

Misfire—loyal Autobot extraordinarie!—listens to Optimus Prime's grave proclamations about the danger and tags along on their hunts. Where COULD this mystery Decepticon thingamajig be? (It is 100% in his subspace.)
