Arkham Asylum promises to cure what ill the mentally and emotionally disturbed, even if their reputation is less than steller... Dr. Leslie Thompkins takes a job there hoping to fix that. However, she begins to notice things seem off, even for an insane asylum; patients are going, and the ones who do return are worse off than they were before. With the reluctant help of a patient — enigmatic serial killer, Edward Nygma — Dr. Thompkins soon realizes that a particular doctor may be the cause.

Dr. Jonathan Crane has long had an obsession with fear, from a psychological, personal, and sadistic point of view. He portrays himself as a professional psychologist, working to help his patients. That couldn't be further from the truth. In order to satisfy his obsession, he runs terror-inducing experiments on the patients of Arkham during the late-night hours, subjecting them to a range of horrors, from different forms of abuse to his potent "Fear Toxic."

Luna Koval was bored with her life. A young woman from a nice middle-class family, she decided to check herself into Arkham Asylum to get a sick fix. Once she sets her sights on Dr. Crane, she can tell something isn't right about him, and she is determined to become his next "victim."

Dr. Harleen Quinzel has always dreamed of being rich and famous. She has also long had an interest in the human mind. After getting her PhD, she decided to work at Arkham Asylum, hoping to use the high-profile patients there as fodder for tell-alls and phony self-help books to raise her status. When news comes that Gotham City's infamous criminal, The Joker, will be coming to stay, she schemes to ensure that she will be the doctor to "treat" him.

I don't even need Joker & Harley to be together all the time. I just need:

Harley actually being written in-character. (A VILLAIN!)

No erasure of Harley's bisexuality. (Canonically pan Joker would be nice, too.)

J & Harley being Bickering Exes battling for dominance of the Gotham City criminal underworld.

That is literally all I ask for when it comes to them!

We need Comic-Con to be the way it was during the mid-2010s. God, the livestreams were so good, and it was the biggest event of the Summer. It all started going downhill around 2018...

Of course, you can say the same thing about film, books, and television, too... Everything really was just better back then. 😒

I was thinking about Gotham Rogues, and thinking about this post, and I got an idea: An Arkham video game/comic/something where the main villains are... Dr. Harleen Quinzel and Dr. Jonathan Crane. They are both canonically horrible doctors who want to use and exploit their patients.

So much potential in exploring that! But I think DC is too afraid nowadays of acknowledging Harleen's evil true colors. (Ohh, Belevolent Misogyny... 😒)

Listen, I love both The Joker and Harley Quinn so much, BUT... the other Rogues are sidelined in favor of them, and it pisses me off.

MORE spotlight for the Batman's other enemies!

(Yes, I am aware that Clayface is getting a movie, Penguin had a show, and Ed got to be the main villain of The Batman. We need more of that.)

I love how Jarley canonical give each other C-PTSD. It's kind of funny because it's what they both deserve.

You know doesn't deserve that from them? ME. 😭
