Really desperately hoping now that the show can switch povs outside of the party that they really lean in to Essek absolutely scrambling behind the scenes trying to figure out who these mysterious mercenaries are. What do they know? Why are they here? What do they want? Do they know? How could they know how could they possibly know? Could they? Do they? Who sent them? How did they get the beacon do they know what it is? Do they know what I did? making himself absolutely SICK over it. The second the doors of his house close behind him the nonchalant mask of the shadowhand drops and he’s lowkenuinely tweaking trying to figure out WHO TF THESE PEOPLE ARE. And then it cuts back to them as they’re off reading some foreman’s love letters in front of his employees and growing a tree on top of their house and putting ribbons on their moorbounders who they’ve named Yarnball and Clarabelle

The dichotomy of Tgcf, chapters set in the past reads like a tragedy with an occasional sprinkle of comedy while the chapters set in the present reads like a comedy with tragic jump scares in between giving away irreversible emotional damage.

Top ten moments in TGCF for me is when Xie Lian is like, “God, I was so cringe. I told a suicidal child to live for me like some fucking nut job,” and Hua Cheng, who was the child in question, is like, "Huh? Interesting.”

Like he is mentally stronger than anyone ever. Imagine the most monumental moment in your life happens, and to this day you are the defined by that moment and the person who was there for you and that person is like, lmao, I was so cringe. I’d have to go for a walk.

Despite giving Hua Cheng a lot of shit, I actually think post canon Xie Lian is borderline impossible to talk to for like two hundred years because he will only be talking about his husband. Like, no matter the story or situation, you are hearing about his husband. There are wife guys, and then there are wife guys, and then there is Xie Lian and his husband.

Like I just think Hua Cheng has had like 800 years of knowing he’s in love with Xie Lian so it’s more this constant background presence that everything about him is about loving his husband but he is not saying that every five seconds. Xie Lian, however, fell hard and fast and is still so delighted by it he’s telling everyone, he’s happy for the first time in centuries, and he’s telling everyone why. It’s sweet, but I know the Heavens are tired.
