Poor Martin having a rough first day on the job.

My bestie just finished season 1 of TMA, so wanted to try pinning down a season 1 design for Jon. Then decided to have them haunt Martin.

Ok, I know Martin isn’t a “Lead”, but I just find it funny that he crushed on his boss so hard that he tripped into the center of the horror apocalypse.

Fun writing hack: If you ever find yourself losing inspiration, just try gender swapping one of your main characters!

Realizing the Avatars are essentially just Human Behavior Consultants for the fear entities.

Like the entities don’t actually understand humans, so they just recruited a bunch of weird little freaks to help them figure out how to harvest fear more efficiently.

Need an AU where the Avatars are just trying to recruit Jon to their fear consulting agency. Like a really fucked up McKinsey.

I like that some of the changes in Caleb’s backstory help align him more with Essek. In the campaign, I had thought Caleb’s insistence that Essek and him weren’t so different was a little skewed. Like, it made sense from his perspective with how hard he is on himself, but in reality he had only ever been a volstrucker in training and had been magically manipulated into doing what he did, so the connection felt a little lopsided.

Now, him having actually been a Volstrucker, and Trent using just good old fashioned nationalism to manipulate him, their actions feel on more even footing, so I think the eventual resolution will be more satisfying. Especially since we’re also getting a better look at Essek’s motivations, which makes his choices more sympathetic too.

They’re both ultimately good people who were put in bad situations, made bad choices and hurt a lot of people, including themselves. So I’m even more excited to see them help each other later on.
