Another day, another fun annotating session! 📝🎐

When I really want to understand a paper, I try to “dumb-down” EVERYTHING (!!!) I can, no matter how hard or easy it seemed on the first read.

Also, I organize paragraphs in my own way so that when I come back later, I can quickly scan my bullet points and use them to navigate the paper 🫟💭

🐳 Another BIG reason I post my notes is because I want to normalize sloooooowing down. Not everyone understands or memorizes something after reading it once, and that’s okay!!!! Take as much time as you need with a text. Give yourself permission to slow down, reread, and write as many “dumb” annotations as you want, even the “everyone probably knows what this word means, so why don’t I?” kind 💓 No one’s there to judge you! It took me way too long to let myself stop working the way other people work and start finding a way that actually works for me. I hope you do too!

spent the weekend studying in cafes and taking long walks because it’s been warmer outside than inside my house. enjoyed a bit of sunshine because this spring has been very cold and even though the days are longer, it doesn’t really feel like summer is coming.

6.05.2026 // it's finally autumn, only a month late.

this will be my first full autumn-winter in this city and i'm looking forward to the cold. i skipped winter all of last year thanks my fieldwork. i plan to lock in and just write my thesis so that i'm on track to producing a first full draft by the end of the year.

i miss 2014 feminism so much. we were all so newly progressive. we just learned what the word intersectionality means and were so passionate about it. girls were starting movements at their schools to change the misogynist dress codes. now we’re stuck in the hellscape of “i’m just a girl” “girl math” “being good at the blue store so he’ll take me to the pink store” WHERE DID WE GO WRONGGG

30 page paper on why literature matters (lovely!), 15 page paper on multiliteracies, and 50 pages for cultural studies – the second half being an absolute dream! – That makes 95 pages read in the last 24h. Had a job interview this morning, and am currently working on flashcards for my linguistics exam; still have to the assignment for my writing class and might go book-shopping later today :)
