Book Review # 1

Intro: I know it's not pefect. Maybe it should be written in more impersonal style. However, I'd like to share with you my piece of writing. As usual, I'll appreciate feedback.

Marilyn Monroe. One of the most popular icon of our times. For some her name represents sex-symbol, dumb blonde who had everything. For others she is pop-culture symbol:  her face is present on mugs, t-shirts, even the pieces of furniture. But foremost she still is one of the greatest star of film industry.

A  fascinating biography The Secret life of Marilyn Monroe  written by J. Randy Taraborrelli shows real image of Marilyn. Author focuses not only on her beginnings as a model and film star, but also present her backgrounds: relatives, friends and early life.

Marilyn, born as a Norma  Jane Baker has to tackle problem after problem since the very young age. Raised in foster families and orphanage house must fights for herself though it was not easy. Even as a successful actress, despite her talent and charm she suffered from anxiety, depression and low self-esteem. Her biography helps to understand why she was so glorious and tragic at the same time. Obviously, author do not forget about her achievements and anecdotes form film sets, as well as  her relationships with men.

This book is a real compendium about Marilyn and everything that was important for her. Reading this I felt that every small piece of information is checked meticulously.I must mention about the language: very sophisticated, even poetic.  

To sum up, this book is recommended for everyone who would like to learn about  a woman who tired to be happy against all odds.

head the team - be a boss of a team

make an apology - apologize for sth

shoulder the blame - take responsible for something bad

needless to say - used when you say something that is known or understood

jot down sth (e.g. a number or address) - note sth down

hold on - stay on the line, wait, hold sth tightly, tell someone to stop or to listen.

I didn’t know about three of them; I’m a Spanish speaker, and I can say to you that these words: “interminable” and “visceral” are very common words in Spanish, I appreciate your post, sometimes is funny look smart to others sight, so well done :D .
