i think it's obvious that rich and powerful media types in this moment (Musk is an obvious sign) are all clamoring for a shift to the right in the world. temperature got too hot for them in recent years, and they want to clamp down on things. and the wana organize and mobilize recruits for the repressions they expect they'll need to keep things as they are.
this is commensurate with popular unrest growing worldwide across the last decade, COVID, the gradual decline of US empire, the Gaza genocide as a deep tremor in the global geopolitical order in decline, ambient background radiation financial crises, escalating proxy conflicts and Now even direct conflicts and their embarrassing failures...etc.
they want to have a general buy in by as many as possible cross the globe. in the super exploited, this recruitment drive is meant to 1. build organic traitors which could quash community rebels (think like the israeli recruited death squads n Gaza) 2. keep things peaceful and acquiescent as things get worse n worse (i keep thinking of Malcolm X's dentist giving Novocain before a tooth extraction metaphor "you suffer but you're peaceful about it") 3. create propaganda for the super exploitation to come.
it is with the anticipated benefit that whoever is doing the selling out be incorporated as a player within the "Settler" camp. sometimes this is with the assumption that they will be made coequals, sometimes with the pleading that they be at least less actively hated second class citizens....etc.
for those however whom will form the class of real intermediaries - that is to say the Settlers of the "lower classes" and the equivalents across the global north... it's like an expected accepted job or welfare application. it's an ask that you be included into the forcible expropriation that will be going on elsewhere.
i remember tryina read baudrillard like that a few years ago and i find him annoying in large part i feel that his writings hit at something that is perhaps true in the global north but is not universal. but to paraphrase what i happened to have felt meaningful from him: "the Working Class" (i.e. the global north labor aristocrats, the pmc, petite bougies, etc) doesn't revolt essentially because they are already getting what they want. they may participate in what are essential spectacle pseudo political intrigues , but they are far away from like starving revolting peasants raiding a grain storage.
the buy in to the "Settler" role is the bottom line being addressed. all the rest is essentially buyer's remorse, attempts at some kinda refund for damages or whatever.
across traitors, collaborators, underlings and goons is a "hustler" "making it work for you mentality". you may be working for people that hate your ass, but you're working for the winning team. and surely, the big check is on the way if you work hard enough for em enough.
because fascistic politicking is a tool, there are numerous movable parts. read into ethnocacerism in Peru and you see something meant explicitly to deal with and counteract Sendero Luminoso. Mussolini referred to his fascists at one point as an "antiparty" forwarding "antipolitics" - part of his then whole "We Are the Guys Who Will Do Something to Change This Rotten Society " act to capture popular frustration....nevermind he channeled this into 1. killing reds and 2. taking money from the rich.
i think white trans people are doing a localized aspirational version of this process when they do this online. they're asking to receive the "Settler" buy in but they're asking in turn to be given the power to modify the particulars of LGBT policy. they want to be given the white picket fence like everyone else in the settler supraclass structure. and it plays out in what is essentially acted out cope and wishful thinking that they'll have the cake & eat it too.
