found this screenshot of John casually doing earthbending
guess he can do that too
The problem with John calling himself a necromancer is that he really focuses attention on the subset of his abilities that relate to doing things like healing, killing, weaponising Purgatory, and reassembling himself like Dr Manhatten.
But very importantly, John is not just a necromancer.
Things John's powers can also canonically do:
Move water ("he made the waters go away for a while")
Move earth ("he raised up some parts of the earth")
Grow plants ("I made flowers grow for them out of the garden")
Possibly control with weather ("Any way to trap atmosphere over the Northern Territory, show them we can fix things here?")
I’ve been thinking about this forever omg. It’s been shown that he can do much more then just necromancy and it makes sense Alecto is a planet - why would power coming from her solely be tied to death.
I always wonder what it would have been like if John had focused his energy on literally anything else. And then too build the empire solely around necromancy????
Plus!!! in htn he says to harrow that he ‘mastered death when he should’ve mastered time’. I always thought it was him being wistful. But with the stuff he can do and the way he can preserve food and bodies and the lyctor labs on the first like I wouldn’t be surprised if he could have.
