My final project is a 5-minutes video about drugs addiction in college, which to be more specific, would be marijuana usages among college students. To be honest, there are several of my friends who have a problem of being kind of addicted to marijuana. They feel like they can control themselves and would not use these drugs excessively so that there are few negative influences. However, I feel like seeing them smoke weeds quite often and sometimes even skip classes for it. My video consists of one person who smokes a lot every day talking about his personal experience and friends interview about different attitudes towards it. And I also give some warning signs in the later of the video such as more frequent use; needing more and more to get the same effect; spending time thinking about using marijuana; spending more money than you have on it, which may help audience check about their own situations.

This video is not very long or complicated. However, since this is my first individual project and most of my friends are international students whose language is not English, it is kind of hard for them to express their ideas clearly in a short time. But I try to pick some fluent clips that bring different aspects, and try to use this small video to make the millennial generation or college students pay more attention to the usage of marijuana. Some attractive point of using marijuana may be that smoking marijuana can relax a person and elevate their mood. However, from my own personal of view, there are still a lot of disadvantages for college students to use marijuana. It is not easy for a young person to control himself very well, and the use of marijuana may leads to more serious drug usage such as cocaine. Last but not least, since it is gradually legalized in some states, it is still illegal in New Jersey. Therefore, it is always not good to do something illegal. 

I planned to do both marijuana and Adderall in the first place, but I only accomplish the part of marijuana because it is difficult to combine both of them in a 5-minutes video. But I am still interested in the field of Adderall and may do some research in the future. In conclusion, I think this final project task is practical for me to learn how to conduct a simple video by myself in a short time, which may help me do presentations in my future careers. And the skills I learnt in this class about social medias are also very useful. As an international student, I hope that I can know more about American pop culture and local news through the platform of social networks and can even speak my own voices through Tumbler, YouTube channel, Facebook, etc. I really enjoy this class for this semester even though we just meet once every week, and I will try to be active in this virtual world in the future.

Final Projects

I decide to do my final project alone, which would be a video about college students’ addiction to drugs. Drug is a common and serious issue in every college in the United States.Nearly half of America's 5.4 million full-time college students abuse drugs or drink alcohol on binges at least once a month, according to a new study that portrays substance and alcohol abuse as an increasingly urgent problem on campuses across the nation. The percentage of students who reported smoking marijuana heavily — at least 20 days during the past month — more than doubled, from 1.9% in 1993 to 4% in 2005.

There are several of my friends who have a problem of being kind of addicted to drugs such as marijuana and study drugs( Adderall). They feel like they can control themselves and would not use these drugs excessively so that there is few negative influences. However, i feel like seeing them smoke weeds quite often and sometimes even skip classes and only study at the night before the exam with some study drugs that help them be concentrated for the whole night. And some of them spend a lot of money every month on this. Therefore i plan to film them answering questions about their opinions towards these habits in college and different people’s ideas towards it.   

And i want to express my personal opinion about the advantages and disadvantages about using drugs in college. For example, smoking marijuana can relax a person and elevate their mood. This can be followed by drowsiness and sedation. Other effects include heightened sensory awareness, euphoria, altered perceptions and feeling hungry ("the munchies"). High concentrations of THC may produce a more hallucinogenic response.But on the other hand, research shows that regular marijuana use compromises the ability to learn and to remember information by impairing the ability to focus, sustain, and shift attention. One study also found that long-term use reduces the ability to organize and integrate complex information. 

Last but not least, i want to give some  warning signs such as more frequent use; needing more and more to get the same effect; spending time thinking about using marijuana; spending more money than you have on it; missing class or failing to finish assignments because of marijuana; making new friends who do it and neglecting old friends who don't; finding it's hard to be happy without it, in order to prevent the addiction issue happens.

For the two videos i watched, i think they are perfect informational videos for audience to lean and follow. And these are all practical knowledge for millennials generation. I really like the first video. This topic is quite practical as well as useful for Rutgers students. Even though some have cars, many of them would rather to take the school bus since it is harder to find a parking spot. However, with the expanding of the population of freshmen, the school bus becomes more and more crowded. Therefore, this video gives useful tips about dos and dont’s for Rutgers students, such as do not put bags on the seats and say thank you to the driver. And the technology and music used in the video is very attractive. It is easy-understanding and interesting.

It is very practical to give a cooking show for millennials who seldom cook at home. And since millennials like to eat fast food that may not that healthy, it is necessary to learn how to cook easy and fast healthy food for ourselves. The video gives good introduction and clear steps about how to prepare and cook the garlic ginger chicken. The cooking environment they choose is also really nice. But i feel like it is better for them to use some typed words when they talk about how to do the steps, which makes it easier to follow for the learners.

College life is hard… here are two recipes that aren’t!

As all millennial college students know, balancing all of our responsibilities can be a hassle. Too often, this results in the neglect of our basic needs. Eating can easily fall to the wayside when we are too focused on cramming for an exam or writing an entire paper due at midnight. Sometimes we forget that eating is a fundamental need that provides energy and brainpower - just what we need for all of our assignments!

Our group sought to remedy this, by offering our fellow millennials stuck in dorms two really simple recipes. These recipes are great for in between classes. The steps are not demanding, and at most, require up to 20 minutes. With inexpensive ingredients (our total budget came to only $12!) these meals are a viable option for any college student.

We included mac n’ cheese, because this is a staple in any college kid’s diet. Making it from scratch, rather than chowing down on the microwavable dish, is healthier. (You can name all the ingredients! There are no hidden chemicals!) By including the brownie, we want students to know that indulging can be a great way to treat yourself. Depriving yourself constantly is not good for the mental health. As well, by cooking, you are learning an essential life skill. Since cooking will be a mainstay for the rest of our lives, it is a great idea to get a jumpstart now! These meals are a great starter kit for the budding cook in all of us!

They’re turning to mobile at every phase of the cooking journey—deciding what to make, learning how to prepare it, and actually cooking or baking—and smart brands are there to help in each micro-moment. While nearly one-third of millennials say they don't enjoy choosing what to cook, it certainly doesn't deter them from being creative. Our research shows that, for a quarter of online millennials, the most important part of cooking is adding a personal touch to make a recipe unique

Toni, Julie, and I are going to do a video about millennials’s life skill of cooking. Most of us have no idea about how to cook for ourselves and even do not walk into kitchens every day. Millennials go out to eat more often than Gen X or Baby Boomers, according to the analysts. 53% of the group goes out to eat once a week, compared with 43% for the general population. So we got a recipe online and plan to do a cooking show.  We could either do the video in a cooking show format, or we could do something I think is more in the style of a BuzzFeed or EHow video. This would entail us filming close-ups of us cooking, and then adding a voice over (like recording our voices separately) to explain the steps. 

We bought ingredients this Sunday, such as eggs, milk, and canola oli, and we plan to film during tomorrow’s class.

Ok so lets start out by saying I had no idea what to watch! I was so lost on what I wanted to watch because my attention span is not a big one! So I just ended up searching random things and came across “How to Start a Blog and Make Money.” Our generation is one that seems to be taking full advantage of making money off of social media and even building careers off of it. This video gives the following tips:

 I liked this video because she pretty much gave her secrets of successful blogging and I thought it was cool to watch being that we are in a Blogging course. Our generation has taken blogging to a whole new level and I fully believe there is an art to blogging. To keep subscribers loyal is hard! People subscribe and unsubscribe everyday, you truly have to keep people coming back for more and keep them interested. I think blogging is sometimes underrated, it is a ton of work! Some people think by just sharing and reflagging, they have a great blog… No! Without your own material it’s just like why do you even have a blog? You aren’t and won’t be providing me with anything straight from your own thoughts or experience, everything is just recycled. Therefore, leave the blogging to those individuals that can keep the crowd coming back!

The second video I watched was one I had to watch anyway with Halloween coming up. Honestly, for the past 2 weeks, what I want to be for Halloween has been the biggest stress factor of my life LOL. So I finally decided that I want to be the Bride of Frankenstein and that’s what I am sticking with. The video I watched was a makeup tutorial on how to do the face. I liked this tutorial because she used all makeup rather than buying arts and crafts supplies. I’ve noticed that the beauty industry is truly taking over the Yotube world. There are tutorials for everything from makeup, to hair, skin routines, how to wash your face, etc. In all honesty its very informative and helpful because there are so many products out there that sometimes you would rather watch a video or two on it first than waste money and not know what to do. People make money off of these videos as well because companies pay them to review their products or just send them their products to review. Now of course, us as viewers are just hoping they are always being honest. I know me personally I’ve started using Youtube for makeup tutorials, skin regimens and hair tutorials. The hair tutorials are the best because being broke and in college, can’t always pay someone to do what you want them to do to your hair. But back to this particular video, I liked it because she recorded everything she did, listed all products listed and even gave insight in how the products lasted through the night. I commend Youtube video bloggers because I know those videos take a ton of time to make and edit

I really agree to your idea that do not put much ads or provide service in your blog. Some bloggers write perfect blogs at the beginning, and after they have lots of followers, they began to post ads in order to make money. And it is really confusing me that so many readers would be convinced by the blogger’s ads and become consumers. Also i really like the makeup tutorial video; i always watch different styles of makeups and they always give me ideas about choices of makeup products.

Lemon Tea

The first video I watched was a beauty tutorial by Patricia Bright. Patricia is a popular youtube star that I discovered by accident. I normally do not wear makeup but one day I decided it would be wise for me to learn a basic routine that would be appropriate both day and night. I began searching for videos that showcased women with a similar complexion to me so that I could buy the same products they used. I kept finding great tutorials but they used entirely too much makeup for my taste. I wanted a natural look. This is how I stumbled on Patricia’s youtube channel. I love the way she does her makeup, it always looks slightly understated and professionally done. She also does a lot of other videos like style hauls and videos with her husband. In the video below Bright explains how she cleared her skin and toned out the dark spots. She washes her face like normal. This secret ingredient in her skin care regimen is lemon. A couple of times a week, after washing her face she rubs lemon all over her face then lets it dry. The acid in the lemon works as a natural toner. I can attest to this. I use to make a lot of DIY homemade beauty products and use them all the time. I made my own shampoo, conditioner, toothpaste whitener, etc. I really believe in using natural chemical free things on you skin, hair, etc. I have since gotten lazy but before I used to use the lemon about 2 times a week. My skin noticeably got brighter and my dark spots faded. If you were to try this I recommend starting out just once a week because the lemon can dry out your skin a bit.

The second video I chose was how to make Indian tea. I chose this video because I absolutely love tea. Growing up my grandfather would make me tea. He would get tea leaves and brew it in a special spot and pour me a cup of delicious earl grey tea. Those memories will forever be cherished and it was because of them my love of tea was born. I drink all types of tea. Green, white, black, chai, chamomile it doesn’t matter I love tea. Through different jobs I have had the opportunity to taste authentic Indian tea. After drinking it nearly every day for an entire summer, it quickly became my favorite. Now I almost exclusively drink some form of Indian tea. I usually do not have the time to make a good batch like the one in the video. Instead I go to the Indian marketplace and buy Masala tea. I mix three parts water to  one part 1 milk and add a little bit of sugar. If you try this recipe or any Indian tea recipe it is important that you drink your tea with either cake rusk or biscotti. This completes the tea experience. It has come to a point where I can not fully enjoy tea unless I have one of these things. For me tea time is me time. I use it as a few minutes of relaxation and I really look forward to it each day.

This is interesting. I also like to watch tutorial videos about food and makeups. Those videos are easy to follow and introduce the audience useful methods. I like milk tea so much and it feels like making milk tea at home is more healthy. I may try by myself later! One problem is that sometimes when you watch a tutorial video, you follow every step of the video, but you just fail to do it as the person did in the video. That is really disappointing.

Come when Called: The FASTEST Way to Teach YOUR DOG to COME WHEN CALLED ...

The first video i watched is about how to train your corgi to come when called anywhere. I got a cute corgi puppy 4 months ago but i did not seriously teach him to do specific training. Sometimes i call him he will come but will run away very soon or run into other direction. In this video, the puppy Cheeto is really smart and the trainer, Zak explains in details about the reason why sometimes they may not come. It reminds me that not only the big reward is very important, but also you need to consider some objective factors such as the distance or external environment. If the environment is too noisy, the puppy may be distracted and would not listen to you. 

The other informational video is quite interesting, which is going to teach you how to have thousands of followers on Instagram. The young man named Curtiswj has more than 35 thousands of followers, and his method is to search a hashtag such as “girl” and likes every pic or give comment, and then follow a lot of people such as Justin Bieber’s followers, which makes you a random person to be seen and followed. I have never tried this kind of thing but i feel like it is unrealistic to have thousands of followers through this way, because i think not everyone will follows a stranger who likes his photo or just follow him. However, i think it is interesting to find so many similar videos on youtube about how to get unlimited followers. It seem that the followers and likes somehow means a person’s popularity online and can even increase a person’s confidence in real life. Nowadays many people become famous on Instagram and some can even make a living through this. But i do not think it is necessary to care much about the amount of followers and likes. For me, It is more important to manage personal relationships well in the reality.

On a chilly, fall night, Podcast 219 came into existence on the second floor of Scott Hall on the College Avenue campus of Rutgers, the State University of New Jersey.  Composed of Asia, Lauren, and myself, we recorded “Netflix and Chill…or nah?: Dating in the Millennial Generation” in our namesake room, 219. 

This podcast focuses on the subject of online dating and the language that shapes the dynamic of our relationships in cyberspace and beyond.  As Millennials, we live in a truly remarkable time where we are afforded the ability to explore an entirely different dating pool than generations before us never could have been able to experience.   In this podcast, we touch on how we are able to connect with people around the globe although many of our encounters occur with those within relatively close geographical distance.  Even with this, many people take to utilizing the affordances of altering who they truly are before meeting others in person in a concept called “catfishing”.   We will also cover how Millennials have also developed certain terms, phrases, and other forms of language that has shaped the way in which we interact with each other.  

So join us on a comical exploration of the way the advancement of technology in our society has changed the dating scene, and let us know your thoughts and opinions!

I really enjoy your topic of online dating and the language used in those relationships. Nowadays, there are plenty of social network sites that give millennials a new way of making new friends online. And people can also reach you privately and say something. For example, now you can send picture to your friend and chat privately through Instagram. So there are more and more social network tools that bring strangers together online. Another thing is that i feel like your podcast is really interesting and attractive. I like the relaxing way in which you guys talk. This is an amazing podcast indeed.

Who thought a 6 second video could make you famous? Well in our first podcast, “The Impact of Social Media,” Raul, Julie, and myself talk about probably one of the most talked about topics in our generation; millennials. In our podcast we revolve around the revolution of social media and what it has done to those who create their own material using different social media platforms like YouTube, Vine, and even Snapchat. So what can happen after making videos for these different platforms? If you get known, companies will actually reach out to you to promote their products. So people who reach up to 250,000-300,000 followers are big enough to work with. In our podcast, we interview three well known internet celebrities who made their debut by simply posting a video on social media. They probably didn’t think it’d turn out the way it did, but they’re doing better now than they were before. Our three guests are Tyler Oakley, Lilly Singh aka Superwoman, and Jerome Jarre. The millennial generation is largely exposed to social medias nowadays. And  you guys raised a good question that whether social medias can influence our future careers or help make a living. The social revolution changes the way millennials communicate in daily lives. And another point i agree is that our generation show strong individualism through Youtube, Instagram, Facebook. However, i think narcissism can be a problem that makes people be addicted to the virtual world and be far away from the reality.

Music and Fashion has shown to be one of the most power things that can define a culture and a particular period in time. For us, we decided to focus on music and fashion during the period of 80s and 90s. We wanted to make it more specific to millennials who were born in the timeline that characterizes millennials of the 80s and 90s and how growing up in those periods helped influence the way that they use music and fashion and integrate the two together. We also slightly dived into the idea of social causes and social justice and how that somehow influenced or was influenced by music and fashion in the 80s and 90s all the way to now. .Lastly, for our interview, we were able to take a slightly different direction by trying to understand the way millennials from other countries understood music and fashion in their culture and also in the context of American culture. This puts things into perspective as to how music and fashion not just of the 80s and 90s but in general can impact people culturally and beyond.

I really like your topic of music and fashion. And one thing i agree is that the choice of millennials towards music and fashion shows their characteristic of open-minded. And everyone can has his or her own opinion about fashion in today’s society, which makes millennials unique and independent. Also, it is worth mention that there may be a connection between fashion and music. And you guys raise examples of musical artists’ fashion styles such as Michael Jackson style in the 80s and 90s. For now, millennials definitely follow their own beats when it comes to fashion. And i think If fashion retailers want love from millennials, they'll need to accept that it's not about their logo; it's all about consumers' personal style.

The Millennial generation is known as the generation of technology.  Since birth we have all grown up with various sources of technology at our fingertips.  We have been around for the birth of social media and it has now become any everyday part of our lives. Social media comes in many forms, from text posts and blogs, to images, and videos.  We focused specifically on the social media outlets of tumblr, instagram, and snapchat. We found that individuals use these social media outlets a lot, specifically to share things about their everyday lives. Here we interview individuals and give our input on how social media effects the way individuals actually view themselves.

According to some online researches, millennials highly depend on social medias. The survey measured the use of seven different social networks as pathways to news and information. That analysis provides a landscape view of social media and news. One striking finding is that every one of these social networks, to greater or lesser degrees, are now news platforms.Fully 88 percent of those surveyed get news from Facebook at least occasionally, 83 percent from YouTube, and 50 percent from Instagram.

Throughout every sector, Millennials are driving changes. Now, Millennials are taking advantage of a variety of high-tech and social media tools that allow them to plow their wealth into investment vehicles of their choice. Given their love for anything tech-related, it should come as little surprise that Millennials are now leveraging social networking platforms, websites, and mobile apps to do everything from following stock-picking tips to finding financial planners. One thing is certain: When it comes to investing, Millennials are taking a completely different approach from that of their parents and grandparents.

However, i think the high dependency on social medias has both advantages as well as disadvantages. Since millennials are used to social medias and modern technologies, they are easier to learn new things and can get immediate information through the Internet in the virtual world. However, on the other hand, it is worth mention that some young generations pay much attentions on virtual worlds and do not care about their family and friendship in the real world. For example, the biggest disadvantages of Facebook is it’s addiction which causes many problems by killing your precious time. Use of Facebook for your need is fine but if once you get addicted it consume your most valuable time. Social medias can also reduce or eliminate face-to-face socialization, which may cause communicating problems in the reality. Tweens and teens are at higher risk because those years are when they are learning to interact with others or build and maintain relationships. A report from the National School Boards Association shows that of the children in these age groups that use a social network, 41 percent spend their time posting messages. They are not spending this time in face-to-face interactions with their peers or others nor are they developing the necessary social skills for future success.

I have listened to two podcasts from NPR TED. One is called “ Unstoppable learning” which introduces how children learn without teaching. In our modern society, educations are important in every developed country. However, there are numerous country where education level are not as good as developed countries. In such cases, Sugata Mitra introduces self-supervised system. Sugata mentions that better education environment does not exist where needed most. For years, Mitra has given kids in Indian slums self-supervised access to the Web, and the results have changed how he thinks of teaching. Later in this episode, Mitra talks more about his wish to build a place where children can learn on their own — using resources from the worldwide cloud. The idea using worldwide cloud as an educational platform is a great idea to educate children at low cost in place where teaching resources are not available. Students are able to learn so much knowledge even the educational environment is not ready for them. Learning is an unstoppable process. Not only kids are learning but also adults are learning new knowledge every day in every aspect. In a lot of places, children are suffering from gaining new knowledge due to the poverty. Unlike children in developed country, children who suffer from poverty own great desire to knowledge. Desire for knowledge is the important factor that makes self supervised education success. For those children who have great desire of learning, it is important to teach them in a right way. 

Another podcast is called “Growing up”, which reflects on how our up bringings shape us. A child is a precursor of the future adult, and its upbringing should ensure it develops physically, intellectually, socially and spiritually. As a parent, you have to ensure that your child gets this holistic upbringing. Such responsibility calls for dedication of time and resources to ensure your child gets to develop in the best way possible. Parents greatly affect their children’s behavior. Children are like sponges--they model everything a parent does and incorporate what they see into their own lives. It is important that parents set the right examples for their children. Negative examples can be detrimental to a child’s development and can lead to bad behavior. Antisocial children learn their behavior from their parents’ examples, according to research done by the University of Chicago published in the Journal of Abnormal Child Psychology. Social skills can be interpreted as everything from the basic polite “please” and “thank you” to speaking in front of crowds. Children model their parents and learn from them.

The Problem with Being a Square in a Society of Circles: The Progression of Thought and Survival in a Job-Lacking Future

The oxford dictionary defines conformity as compliance with rules, regulations, or laws. The main complaint about millennials is that they seem to intentionally act in ways that does not conform to the norms. What are the norms that millennials do not follow? The Cracked podcast pointed to the obsolete order of society that millennials are expected to follow but cannot follow in the reality of our shifting society. Millennials are a group expected to fit into roles that no longer exist. We are a consumerism driven society with a lack of jobs but a rising productivity. It is not lack of growth that is inhibiting the market but a lack of job growth mixed with the assumption that we must earn our living. As the podcast said we are living on an economy that relies in scarcity and yet products are now more available than ever before. 

Experience is now the main concern of a generation evolving to not work obsolete jobs but finding a fit in a world that is made of circles while they have been raised as squares is the way to an existential crisis only fixed by individual experience. The metaphor of not fitting in to the order of the world is a bit cliche but the possibility of working retail after college and the accumulation of loans is much more absurd than a used-up phrase. We are people living two realities: the reality of what could be and the society of what was that refuses to allow the way for the could be. Wealth inequality thrives in our economy which has been working as a war-time economy since world war II. Jobs are created for the sole intention of people earning a living but those jobs are not necessary. The income generated from these jobs is not sufficient to remain in the pockets of those who earn it. The money always finds its way back to those at the top. 

Millennials are one of the most educated generations and yet we are supposed to become part of the loop that sustains a mode of production that is obsolete and also inhumane. How is it inhumane? Well it definitely does not place a concern for the people at it’s heart to use the Pope’s own words. The only concern of the system is to maintain itself: the people are just parts that have grown obsolete to the entire function. Is it correct to call the people obsolete or is it better to assume that we are now the system’s dominators and can now live the easy life. 

The theoreticals of the entire issue and of the future make these questions rhetorical. But when policy is made these issue should be at the center of the discussion.The reason that the mode of production survives is due to it not being challenged and through government programs that allow it to exist. The re-distribution of wealth for example creates an easier life for people but does not fix the issues that the mode of production creates. Perhaps in my utopian mentality, I hope that one day the people do become the dominators of the entire system of society but until then we can only create our individual reality. We want to play pretend but instead we are told to wake up and make money. The making money part allows the system to exist. So for now I’ll just have to use that money for my own gratification. The system prevails in the individualistic mentality that allows us to survive the alienation hell that is our society. In the same way that the cracked podcast ended: I offer no alternatives.

Yes…yes…and yes! But the issue is that the previous generations want Millennials to continue to fulfill the roles they created while filtering the spending power of Millennials directly into their old trust funds.  It’s a system that served the past generations well, but they are highly reluctant to the necessary change that just occur, especially with the extreme population boom.  The greed and control factors are ridiculous, and also especially disheartening to know that the policies aren’t going to change until Millennials with a Millennial agenda get into those positions of power.  Let’s hope they don’t get brainwashed along the way.

I really love the title of this blog saying that we are like a square in a society of circles, which means that millennials differ from the former generations in many ways. It is commonly thought that millennials act in the way that does not conform to social norms. However, being different does not mean we are wrong. Millennials have a strong desire to develop a career that they really love. They may also do a job for making money; but when they find it is what they do not like, they may choose to leave and change to a new one.

Hardly working, or working hard?

Like all groups of people, Millennials are a generation shaped by the circumstances society has thrown at them. Being born between 1978 and the early 2000s, they have certainly seen a vast amount of change in the world, anything from war to financial booms and crashes to innovations in technology. There are plenty of misconceptions about these growing members of the work force, and it is unfair to cast a great deal of judgment on a group of people who don’t all deserved to be judged (obviously there are always exceptions to the rule, but I digress).

The Cracked Podcast’s “Millennial Panic” shows the negative views that are projected upon Millennials. We’re “slackers” who would rather sit around and do nothing than work a job we don’t like, our parents have made such successful lives for themselves that we’ve become spoiled and entitled. However, they make a point by saying that this success of not needing to work to get by is a standard that we have so long worked towards – so what are we complaining about? I, myself, can’t relate to this notion. My parents both work fairly menial jobs just to get by. I have been a part of the work force since I was 16 (I am now 20), and I pay for my college education completely on my own in order to work towards a specialized degree for my career of choice. While we might be seen to be a part of a post scarcity society, where there are enough resources for everyone to have access to them for little to nothing, I personally don’t always see these perks, and I know not everyone around me can see them either.

“The Millennials Are Here!” by Advisorpod shows the side of Millennials that I can relate to; the hardworking, dedicated side. They discuss how eager the Millennials are for feedback to improve upon, and how they place an importance on comradery among other members of the force. Likewise, they place a higher emphasis on the quality of the work that is produced, not the hours spent on said assignment. I find this to be true, if I can do a job just as successfully in two hours as opposed to an allotted and expected four hours, I will be even happier with the results because it gives me the extra time to work on additional things in my new found free time. Doing work in less time doesn’t make us lazy, it makes us efficient at the things we choose to do so we can also work on other things we would very much like to do and improve on.

The MullerCast’s “Millennial Culture and the Experience Driven Life” gives another perspective on how Millennials seek out experience and are able to carve their own paths in life, now more than ever. We are seen as the Facebook Generation, with social media becoming a large craze with an even larger following. We are a generation of people who will go out and ask for it if we don’t already have it. Some see us as impatient, but it’s a matter of preferring to take charge over not seeing any changes occur.

Are some Millennials lazy, entitled, and impatient? Absolutely. Are others dedicated and go-getters? Well yeah! We are a generation of the time, and based on our circumstances, we do what we must to survive (regardless of how much or little that actually requires of us).

I couldn’t agree more with your response on the Millennials Are Here Podcast. Wanting to spend less time on a task doesn’t make us lazy - it makes us efficient! Growing up in a world where unlimited information is always available at our fingertips we’ve had to learn the important skill of prioritizing the information we seek to obtain. More doesn’t always equal better - we’re much more geared to work smarter not harder.

It is definitely worth thinking that whether the judgement towards millennials of being lazy is true or not.  I agree to the point of view that even though some millennials are entitled or impatient, there are many young generations who are dedicated and hard-working. They want to gain respect from the society and make their parents be proud of them through their own efforts.
