I'm reading way too much into this, but I was thinking about Annette wearing that blue fit at the end of S2. Blue is a color heavily associated with Richter and so often we see Annette bathed in blue light or, in the end, wearing the color. It probably wasn't meant to mean anything, but I think it's kind of nice.

I pride myself on being a mature lady, but sometimes I crave seeing my favorite ships in a good jealousy fic.

Give me the girl wants your man/guy wants your woman fics. Give me the unhinged ex fics. Sometimes I need a little mess.

They drew her with so much care. I feel like the artists made such an effort to make her...I know this can be a hot button word, but, feminine. Yes, she was strong and tough and resilient, but she was never masculinized (which is something that happens to black women a lot). I really can't say enough about how much I appreciate the artists/animators on this show.

You know that scene when Annette and Richter are fighting those vampires that followed them? If I recall correctly, someone fired a shotgun at Richter and Annette caught the buckshot and fired it back at them. That's crazy reaction time. To even be able to register what's happening, decide what to do and execute that decision in barely a second is actually pretty incredible. Even if she saw them get ready to fire, those pellets move fast. It made me wonder if that's indicative of some kind of enhanced sense or if it's just one of those ~this is a cartoon~ things.

It also makes me wonder what her awareness of metal is like. Buckshot spreads and there are lots of pellets in there. Annette managed to catch and control every single one. Her abilities are so interesting. If we get a third season, I hope they do a little dive into Annette's powers.

It's me again.

1. They both really love their size difference. Annette feels like she's got a bulwark around her and, for Richter, it really scratches his protective itch. He loves being big enough to curl around Annette.

2. Neither of them are into having a lot friends. They like to keep their circle small. They've got lots of people they're friendly with, but only a few friends.

3. People are surprised if they see one without the other. Typically they're attached at the hip.

4. They love getting each other little treats. Nothing fancy or expensive. Just like. Candy bars, a slice of cake, a book you mentioned wanting. Things like that. They do a lot of little silly loving things just because it delights their lover.

5. Annette sings when she's relaxed and happy. It took a while for Richter to notice because, for a while, things were too chaotic for Annette to feel happy and/or relaxed.

More Richette headcannons

1. Richter always wants to be in some kind of physical contact with Annette. Even if it's as small as holding pinkies. He also trails her from room to room when they're at home.

2. Annette is borderline hyper independent, but she likes asking Richter to do certain things just because, for some reason, it makes her feel wanted. There's something about your lover being totally willing to take care of those little things for no other reason than that they love you.

3. They both sometimes struggle with insomnia. They have a little joke about hoping their sleepless nights sync up.

4. They get really squirrelly if they spend too much time apart.

5. Annette doesn't fuss a ton, but her face basically has subtitles. It's one of Richter's favorite things.

I have all these ideas that would make good Richette fics (imo), but uuuugh. Getting started is so hard. You guys who constantly churn out content are amazing bc here I am despairing at the idea of opening my laptop.

I really love how deliberate the artists were in their depiction of Annette and Richter's relationship. They didn't leave any room for misinterpretation. The way they're hugged up in this picture is a perfect example of showing their new status. This isn't Richter holding her up because she's weak or hurt. This is a lovers hold. He has her tucked in as close as possible to his side. And her hand on his chest? That has very specific connotations.

I guess it's striking because so often black female characters are pushed aside or the writers/creators sort of hedge around things to appease fandom. Or they'll make her the expendable black girlfriend. It's refreshing to see Annette treated as a woman deserving of love and protection.

Ok. I have no knowledge of Castlevania except Seasons 1 and 2 of Nocturne, so these Richette headcannon are purely based on vibes and my imagination.

1. Richter is a very doting partner. Super attentive and gentle with Annette. I think Annette reciprocates fully, but her Cup of Love fills faster than his so she requires more time to herself.

2. For all the ways Richter handles Annette with a soft touch, he's actually quite dominant in bed. Not necessarily in a D/s way, but he definitely takes charge. They both prefer missionary. Richter likes pressing her into the mattress, Annette likes his weight on her and they both like seeing each other's faces during sex

3. They make each other laugh a lot and have taken on aspects of each other's senses of humor.

4. Sometimes Annette skinny dips.

5. They do have growing pains in their relationships. They both have baggage that they'll have to unpack and some of those things take a long time to heal.
