For those who no longer wish to be a part of the verse you may simply let us know you're not interested. If I don't receive any messages I will just go through assume that those who don't participate without any away messages don't mind being removed from the master list when I go to update it at the end of the week. If the verse has died I will delete the blog and stop bothering to check it and try to be in contact with those involved.
"--A rather tall student just sat in front of me. Could someone fill me in on how they're faring in the house?"
Please send an ask, a submit, or something with a link to your latest post in any thread pertaining to your character's position in the burning house for task one, as well as where they currently are. As in; what floor, who are they with, have they met with their champion/victim yet?
I wanted to address this because I have received a lot of questions about my hiatus on Damon. I am currently taking a hiatus for my own personal reasons -- mostly to help control my own sanity... but I will still be here to help out for the blog and the verse and things will still be going on. While my mains are hiatus'd the others are not and so I am still available for plotting and discussing my activity on Ethan/Dean on Skype whenever someone wants me. And I do expect the others to continue to keep everything up to date and active.
Would snitching on Nik and Ric for their animal thing get points deducted from Gryffindor?
Ummm, that depends. I have no idea what their "animal thing" is so I wouldn't be able to say whether what they're doing is wrong or point relevant but if you do decide to send in a snitch for it then please run it by them -- anon or not I don't care -- so that it doesn't mess with anything they have plotted so far. Points could be deducted and punishments could be handed out depending on what it is.

“But I’m telling you it’s true, everybody knows it!”
Nik didn’t look up when he heard the female voice close to him, he was too focused on trying to get his Care Of Magical Creatures-essay done before Hagrid showed up. He had fallen asleep writing the last paragraph the night before and since the giant teacher was always late to his classes, Nik had decided to finish the last lines before class.
“This is ridiculous, he would never do that. I happen to know him very well, he’s like my brother, and I’m telling you he didn’t do it! Not to mention that professor Mikaelson would never—can you really see him doing this?”
“Well, you don’t know what he offered to do for him, do you?” One of them was saying, while the other was staring at her, wide-eyed, obviously completely stunned.
“No, he didn’t. He wouldn’t. Not for this! I mean, the tournament is important and everything, but this? If people find out about this—he’d be kicked out of school!”
Nik was about to get up and walk over to them, to ask them what exactly they were talking about that apparently involved his brother, when one girl pulled the other closer by her robe, as if she was going to tell her a secret, but she didn’t lower her voice at all.
“Ember, think about it: You’re the champion of your house, of Slytherin, you need to be the best at this tournament, you need to win or your house, your family, your friends—everybody would make fun of you! And you know Damon, he’s a true Slytherin at heart, the best we have for this, he would do anything—and I mean anything to win this! And Professor Mikaelson isn’t that bad looking…”
Both girls fell quiet and nodded solemnly at each other, while Nik’s eyes got so wide they almost fell out of their sockets. This was how people—girls were talking about his brother? Here, at school? Where everybody could hear them? Elijah was a professor, a person who demanded respect—
Before he even got a word out, they were talking again, and what he heard now had him freeze in shock:
“I got this from a friend, a close friend, she was right there when it happened, you have to promise you won’t tell anyone, okay?”
“I promise,” the other girl breathed, and they leaned even closer, while Nik was still able to hear every word as if they were standing right next to him.
“This friend—she saw Damon leaving the professor’s room in the middle of the night! And I don’t think I have to go into details about what he was doing in there…”
“But Damon is dating Rebekah—“
“Ember, please, the tournament, Slytherin, it’s so much more important than her pretty blond hair and her—“
“Would you just shut up?”
At some point, Nik had risen from where he had been sitting, and was now stalking toward the two girls who were looking at him as if they were seeing a ghost. Nik glared at them, not bothering to lower his voice as he all but growled at them.
“That’s my brother and my sister you’re talking about, okay? You don’t know them, my brother is a professor, he wouldn’t do something like that! And whatever you think about my sister, keep that crap to yourself and don’t go around spreading rumors!”
Nik felt his temper rising and took a deep breath to calm himself somewhat, he knew what would happen if he didn’t get himself under control just about now. Luckily, for him, both girls seemed to be too embarrassed to even look at him so it wasn’t too hard to take a step away from them.
“How about I tell my brother, the professor, just what people of his house talk about behind his back, how would you like that?”
By now, both of them looked positively scared, one of them shaking her head repeatedly, while the other opened her mouth to say—
“What’s the problem, why are you outside of your classes?”
Nik froze when Hagrid’s familiar voice sounded behind him and he slowly turned around, trying to look innocent. Well, as innocent as he could with his hands still clenched into fists at his sides.
“Nothing, it was just a… a misunderstanding…”
Behind him, the sound of retreating footsteps could be heard and Nik didn’t need to turn around to know that Ember and whatever-her-name-was would be gone if he looked over his shoulder. He couldn’t hold back a grimace as he looked up at his favorite teacher, fully expecting to hear him take points from Gryffindor, but, after a long look at Nik the giant turned around and approached the classroom without saying a word. Nik followed him quietly, making a mental note to talk to Elijah at the first chance he got.
Your character is waiting in the hall before class — your teacher is late again and you overhear two students gossiping about tomorrow’s task for the Triwizard Tournament. Whatever gossip they are spreading is completely false, but they are insisting that they heard it from a friend who was there when the champion figured out the clues. Does your character buy into their convincing act or does your character know better already? Do they join in the conversation or prefer to stay out of it? Do they tell them what they know?

Your character is in the audience for the first task. They sit in the stand surrounding a house engulfed in flames and watch as the champions and fellow students rush in to save their loved ones. How does your character feel about the situation? Do they believe their friends/classmates are real in danger? Do they care?

allroundlostcause:
Alaric woke worried, and not just about the task. He was, admittedly, a little worried about it. After all, the last time the cup had happened, someone really did die – but they’d been on the cusp of war, and Voldemort had been involved. A couple of decades of this peace, and no immediate threats – what could possibly go wrong? There was the fact that that was far from the first time lives were lost, of course, but these days, no doubt every care would be taken. So Alaric wasn’t worried about that.
Much.
He was, on the other hand, a little worried about the fact that he’d told Danny the day before about himself and Nik. No, not the smartest idea. But Danny was so easy to talk to, and it was always fun, breaking the rules with him – but he was also far too trusting, and might just tell someone else by accident. So Alaric set out to find him. He wasn’t in the common room, but almost no one was. He asked a couple of fifth years.
“I didn’t see him at all this morning,” said one. “I think he got up really early.”
Alaric thanked him, and headed out into the castle. He saw a couple of Gryffindors, and asked again. One of the girls went all starry-eyed and Alaric had to bite back a laugh, but not for long. One of the guys shook his head. “I was up really early, and he was already gone.”
“Thanks,” Alaric said. “If you see him, tell him Alaric’s looking for him?”
And out to breakfast. Same story. No one had seen him, and a few looked worried. Alaric began to panic. What if Danny had been caught, after they went swimming the day before? The idiot probably wouldn’t even dob Alaric in, just take it on the jaw. Or was there a Quidditch practice? But no, they wouldn’t schedule that before the first task… though he couldn’t see Jeremy or Elena, either, he really thought it would be far too rough on Bonnie.
Nope. Danny was in trouble, maybe even getting expelled, right then. Alaric had to find him, admit to going along to the lake as well. Perhaps if it was two of them, they wouldn’t be so badly punished. (A little voice in his head said he was overreacting, but… they’d been told over and over that it wasn’t allowed.
Alaric could hear an irritated voice nearby. “Has anyone seen Stefan Salvatore?” she was asking, in a voice that sounded entitled and exasperated at once.
Alaric froze. Danny, Jeremy, Elena, Stefan… was there anyone else?
He stepped out into the girl’s path. “Um, hi,” he said. “Blair, right? I’m not sure if you remember me. Alaric. Ric. We duelled together once, last year. I’m looking for someone too… do you have any idea where they might be?”

Alaric and Nik were leaning against the wall, reading over last night’s Charms homework. Checking for spelling mistakes, mostly, or at least Alaric was. His spell-correcting quill was running out of juice and though it wasn’t spurting nonsense yet, it wasn’t remembering to correct all his spelling errors, either. Alaric jumped when he heard a voice say “over here!”
“Now, SHHHHHH,” said the first. Hair so blonde it was almost white, and she might have appeared part-Veela, if she was a little less animated and a little more graceful. “I know exactly what they’re facing. No one else in the whole school does, but I heard one of our boys talking to a Durmstrang boy and then I heard someone else talking about another thing to one of the Beauxbatons girls. Now don’t badger me, Petunia, I shan’t name names, some of us are purebloods, and raised with some class.”
Alaric cringed, and met Nik’s confused glare. He pressed a finger to his lip.
“So,” said the dark-haired girl, evidently Petunia. “What makes you think you know how to decipher the clues?”
“Well, you have to know things about Muggles. And the Summer before I started Hogwarts I spent living in actual Muggle London. Mother and Father think it’s best to be well rounded and really you can learn all you need to learn about Muggles in a month or so.” She tossed her hair back. “They’re far simpler than us.”
Petunia looked halfway spellbound, and halfway deeply distrustful. “So?” she said. “Let’s hear it, then, Viktoria.”
Viktoria took a deep breath. “Well, first of all, there’s a thing called a Box of Matches. Tiny little thing, so you’d think it wasn’t much of anything at all. But I’ve seen what they are. It’s a tiny dragon’s egg on the end of a stick. You put the egg to the side of the box and an invisible dragon is born Already breathing fire! And if you drop them into a pile of wood they grow very, very fast.”
“But Muggles don’t have drag -”
“Oh, hush, you’ll believe anything. I’ve seen this, Petunia. Seen it. A box of tiny dragons. You can’t see them but my brother explained. And then there’s a key. A key. Now, I know everyone’s thinking it’s just a key, to a box, or something, which is totally stupid, because we just use Alohamora. No. No one’s thinking clearly enough. It’s not just a key, it’s a hint – it’s actually a play on words for Quai. Which is land sticking out over the water. See, not everyone has the brains to figure this stuff out. They have to capture an invisible dragon and fly it into water.”
The hilarious thing was – she sounded supremely confident. As if she’d actually been told it was all true, by someone she trusted.
“Vik -”
“Viktoria.”
“Viktoria. Did you work all of this out yourself?”
“Yes. But my brother agrees. And he’s no doubt telling everyone he came up with it himself.”
Alaric bit into his knuckles to stop from shrieking with laughter. Nik had his face pressed into Alaric’s shoulder, and Alaric could feel the silent shudder of his laugh, about to bowl Alaric over.
Petunia was silent for a few moments. And then, “you’re a genius, Viktoria. I think you should tell everyone. Now, we have to get to class.”
that would be pretty awesome. would you like me to send in a few paras for matt? <3
Yes just a small sample would be great so we can just get a glimpse of how you’d play Matt. If you have any more questions just let me know. :) We really look forward to hearing from you and I’m sure your sample will be great
In order to keep things up to date -- both for our sake and to be sure this blog is helpful for all members of the verse -- I have decided to arrange our mods in a way that gives us all equal duties and makes it easier to know who should be doing what.
This changes very little for anyone outside of the mods but I wanted to let you all know that you each have a house representative now. The mod who is assigned to your house -- for all intensive purposes we will just refer to them as your house head -- will be in charge of scoring your drabbles, creating house specific prompts, creating and changing dorm "passwords" and entry techniques, and so on. Hopefully this will get questions answered more quickly and keep everything on the blog up to date in a timely fashion.
The only thing you would have to change is to be sure to acknowledge that when one of us may be on updating something we may not have time to get to everyone so you may have to wait for your House Head before prompts are scored, points are updated, etc.
I've made an "active faculty" page for you to keep track of who is head of which house... Being that there are only three of us we are looking for a fourth member to be the Hufflepuff Head. Anyone interested, who knows html basics and has a bit of time every few days to devote to the blog, send us a message and we'll let you know!
ugh. i really want to make sub for a klaus or a matt.
We have a Klaus, actually. He just goes by “Nik” in the verse. And you have NO IDEA how badly I want Matt! I’m so okay with sub blogs. We have indie blogs, single verse blogs, and sub blogs in the group. It’s all on your own preference. We’d love to have you!

OC’s and canons from other shows/stories are welcome. There is no real need to post a full bio for show canons unless you prefer it, though we’d like you to state a bit about yourself (house, year, special skills, blood status, etc) before beginning so no one messes with your headcanon.
If we don’t know you we ask that you submit a bit (just two paragraphs or so) about how your character reacted when the names were drawn from the Goblet of Fire.
