The Incident (Parts 1 and 2)
me: I found your pillow!
pip: thank you! you’re the best.
me: it did take me a long time to find it again…
pip: you’re not the best because you found it. you’re the best because you kept looking. whether or not you found it isn’t up to you; it’s the fact that you tried.
me: you’re like reverse yoda
pip: I’M LIKE REVERSE YODA!!!!! THE REVERSE YODA WHO KILLS THE REAL YODA WITH HAMMERS!!!!
me: the reverse yoda and the vetinari of being nice to dogs
pip: PUT THAT ON YOUR BLOG
my awesome art of yoda dying in a glue trap for his crimes
hammers at the ready folks!
"...the magic of a campfire is that you can sit at it, and in one instant be the most connected to the people around the fire with you than you've ever been, and in the next moment, go to the most solitary and soulful place within your own heart and mind that you can possibly reach and never be far away from the people you love and care about."
Damn Brennan, casually throwing out a line like that about an experience that has probably been shared by most of humanity all the way back to when we first discovered how to control fire.
FINDING THE MOST DEVASTATING SONG FOR YOUR OC
nobody else doing it like me. particularly because the way i’m doing it is needlessly difficult
sometimes people will hear the lengths i go to for my fanfic, especially regarding my dedication to knowing the canon, front to back top to bottom inside out etc, and say something like "you know you don't have to do that right? it's fanfic. you can do whatever you want forever!" and. yes. this is true.
what i want to do is obsess over my fanfic and the source material. what i want to do is weave in the loose ends of canon and tug on unexplored plot threads until i end up with a tapestry of epic proportions that is entirely about these sad gay goofballs in a tiny little village by the sea.
what i want to do is be intentional with the canon i do change because there is so much of it that i adore. i would hate to carelessly throw all of these babies out with this bath water. if I'm going to throw any babies out I want it to be on purpose.
I only want to throw out the shitty babies that suck so so bad.
you see that baby? the one called Adherence to Canon Demographic Makeup? That one's the first to go. i am going to punt that baby so far that it will skip across the ocean like a flat stone at mach fuck and bounce through every football goalpost across america. it's fine it'll be some other asshole's problem. it's a metaphor, it can take a beating.
like. these blorbos are absolutely not staying on goddamn default settings. i am hitting them with every beam in my arsenal. get transgendered, get fat, get queer'd, get some goddamn melanin we are two blorbos away from this place looking damn near like a covert sundown town, get autismed get adhd'd get ocd'd GET BEAMED!!!!!! ALL OF YOU GET MARGINALIZATION BEAMED NOW!!!!! GET THAT FUCKASS BABY OUT OF MY SIGHT.
More characters ending disabled and happy NOW
The Night Shepard
A little comic from last spring I made that hasn’t really had a home anywhere.
I liked the idea of immortality leading to a reverence for life and the world around it, rather than nihilism and wanton destruction. It was also a comforting thought that if immortal beings walked among us, they could see the future of our hope become a reality someday… so it felt relevant again.
Pssst
Hey, are you an artist or writer with WIPs?
Come here... I got a secret for you pssst come ‘ere
waiting in deep suspense
Psst you ready here comes the secret
Here it comes
I am also very curious about this secret
Your time spent enjoying the creative process is infinitely more valuable that any final project you create. So stop putting yourself down for never finishing or posting those WIPs because every moment you spent creating something you loved is a moment not wasted. Your progress and talent is measured by your passion not your number of posts.
This post went from 3k to 7k overnight and that just goes to show how many of you need to hear this so make sure you don’t ever forget it
i....found a rare shoegaze tape. legit. band does not exist online. tape is at least 20 years old. This is so Sam
rare tape.
ok ok....track for you from rare tape. ripped by me
I HAVE SOURCED MORE INFO!!!! from my friend who works at an nz audio archive and they HAVE THE TAPE THERE? COVER:
Final info ive put together after i have just looked over the insert notes (inside the other tape) sent to me by my friend:
This band had Steven Wells and Andrew Bain in it - they went on to be in a pretty popular NZ rock band called Fur Patrol from late 90s-2000s, so this is a precursor to that. in the notes they also thank Campbell Kneale, a prolific underground nz musician in bands like Birchville Cat Motel and Black Boned Angel. they also thank "Drinkwater".
alright everyone. after 33k+ notes on an obscure 90s indie song from Aotearoa i gotta admit many want to hear the rest, & as i cant think of a better format to supply this, here's the rest of the tape in this post. please let it stay here where it needs to be, don't spread it like its yours. its not mine either! i now present to you: Clayflower - Still (1993, Aotearoa, Cassette, Shoegaze/Indie Rock)
beautiful and cool obscure music like this is everywhere if you just wanna look for it even for a few minutes. dont let yourself think someone has to come along and show it to you <3
Hey artists, C. Spike Trotman, founder of Iron Circus Comics, just posted an invaluable thread on depicting different types of black hair. I’d do the thing where you screencap the whole thread and post it but it’s just too long (which is great because it’s a whole lot of useful information!) Give her a follow while you’re there.
Anyway, go check it out. I just wanted to save it and share it because I didn’t know how much I didn’t know!
This is an amazing resource, not only for artists, but for writers too! I love this!
{ID - tweet from @/Iron_Spike that reads, “Black Hair for Non-Black Artists: a Cheat Sheet Thread. Hi, folks! Just spur-of-the-moment decided to put together some reference for folks who want to draw/model black characters in their work, but arent confident they won’t make simple, obvious mistakes w/r/t black hair. END ID}
I noticed in the comments that some people can’t see the thread, so I took screenshots for y'all!
More will come in reblogs, since tumblr has an image limit

Anthropomorphic animals are a common part of many mythologies and internet subcultures and I completely get the appeal of their design.
But I also think the inverse of the concept could be used more. Anthropomorphic animals are cool but what about many horror movies would benefit immensely if a human character starts moving/walking in a way that reveals their non-human anatomy. Imagine watching a movie thinking the antagonist is just some serial killer and then they pull one of these
what if we stopped making Ambiguously Brown Character and started actually thinking about the race and ethnic features of the characters we made? what if instead of drawing a character that looks like you painted a white character brown, we started varying noses, lips, eyes, and hair? just a thought
Heya! We made a thing. We hope y'all like it.
It's a hair heavy, but yeah.
Actual poem and everything under the cut.
