rolling his eyes, levi took another, longer drag from his cigarette, just to be a bit of a prick, really. if people asked him kindly to not smoke around them, he was more than willing to oblige, but the girl’s tone was enough to annoy him. “do you know how much smokes cost these days?” he asked, sarcasm like poison in his voice, “i’m not going to waste one just because you’re uncomfortable, princess.”
“how much smoking costs? how about your health and those around you.” sofia rolled her eyes as the male took an obnoxiously long time to smoke. she knew levi could be petty but she never thought he would get this petty. because now even she was thinking ‘damn, that’s petty’ and that was coming from the pettiness queen. “you’re really annoying sometimes, you know that?”
“i swear, everyone your age seems to feel that way nowadays,” hannah commented with a shake of her head as if she’d lived in any other generation to know differently. sometimes she felt like an oldie. “she’s just a kid. people don’t let their children scream in public because it’s fun. a life lesson for you: the parent with the crying child is always more distressed by the situation than an observer. it’s ridiculous to think you can stop a crying kid by complaining.”
“yeah, well we have more important things to do than overpopulate the earth. we have companies to make, we have change to make, i’m not just gonna sit and be a stay-at-home mom. how unfulfilling.” sofia didn’t understand what was so bad about not being a kid person. she just didn’t see the need for them. “you could just teach your kid how to act. my parents taught me manners.”
her anger was hardly hidden and as much as eli kept his gaze locked on hers, he could still see the other patrons and staff observing the situation and judging the both of them. his brows arched and furrowed at her scathing comment, before his expression scrunched into a frown. ‘ we’re busy. don’t come during peak hours if you can’t handle waiting and having a little patience, ’ he spat, humming with fury evident. the arrogance displayed in her further comment evoked an eye roll from eli. ‘ oh, jesus. be a bit more humble. pride is a pretty ugly look on someone like you. ’
sofia didn’t really care about the looks from everyone around her. she didn’t really care what anyone thought because, like fuck that. she didn’t need a rhyme or reason to be the way she was. she just was. ‘ or maybe the service could just be competent ? but i know that’s asking a lot. ’ she wrinkled her nose as she gave him a faux pitiful look. ‘ oh, honey, nothing is an ugly look on me. but that frown on your face ? you’re gonna get wrinkles. ’
( TYLER POSEY, 25, CIS MALE, HE/HIM ) howdy doody neighbor ! it’s nice to see you around PUP. oh c’mon, GABRIEL HUERTA, you know i’d never forget you got that nickname because you LOVE DOGS. you don’t think the newbies’ll catch on to the goings on around here, do ya ? nah, i’m sure you’re right. the WEIRD association will keep ‘em quiet if anything goes haywire - at least, that’s their plan. anyway, i heard you got a raise as a GROOMER AT WOOF GANG BAKERY & GROOMING BOUTIQUE ! congratulations ! i’m sure your + BENEVOLENT trait will help you rise up the ranks quickly, but be careful of your - ABSENT MINDED nature. go on, you DAD FRIEND, i’m sure you have important things to do today ! ( always having sunscreen, hello kitty bandaids, the smell of fresh cookies, dog parks, scattered polaroids, ferris wheels, fuzzy socks. )
gabriel huerta was born to a founding family which means his family has been here since the start
nicknamed pup or gabe
his family won the lottery to live in celebration
he was born in celebration & doesn’t really think of it as the happiest place on earth but thinks of it as more like home
his mother raised him with compassion, disney movies, milkshakes & love
instead of being taught to hide the more sensitive parts of his personality, his mother was always the kind to encourage him to embrace it
gabriel always thought his calling was helping people & animals
he dreams of being a veterinarian but right now, he’s settled for being a groomer
he’s a total hufflepuff
he loves healing people but he’d rather heal others than himself
he can be a little naive sometimes & is definitely gullible
so when his father tells him that the rumors about the town aren’t true, he tends to just believe his father
pure and good
best friends with nickey
again, please be patient bc i am working out the kinks with him because he’s a new muse !
i decided to do another intro for my new muse, AYA !
( AMANDLA STENBERG, TWENTY, NONBINARY, THEM/THEM AND SHE/HER ) howdy doody neighboroni ! it’s so great that you’ve been in celebration for TEN YEARS, AYANDA DAVIS ! it doesn’t seem like it’s been all that long, does it AYA ? y’know, i’ve heard some weird things about the association, but i know you think it’s pretty CORRUPT; at least, rumor has it, anyway. rumor also has it that you got a raise as an IT SPECIALIST FOR BURKE & MENDOZA LAW, congratulations ! i know your + HELPFUL trait will keep you in their good graces but don’t let your - PARANOID nature overstep its bounds. i’ve held you up for too long, you HACKTIVIST, i’m sure you could be doing something better with your time. ( hacking into mainframes, sleepy eyes, going to protests, sticking it to the man, dismantling the patriarchy, exposing the truth to the public.
ayanda was born to thomas & nobuhle davis ( nee powell )
thomas davis was a successful politician in the florida area
the family moved to celebration in order to have a more quiet life, away from the city, but so that thomas could still serve the people of florida.
since they were born to a politician, they always had activism in their blood
thomas was renowned for his work in civil rights
ayanda was one of the smartest kids in their class, skipping grades, graduating college early, a whole prodigy
they got really interested in computers in middle school. it started with simple coding but soon turned into them being proficient in all things related to computer science
they went to mit & graduated early, at the age of twenty
during their high school & college years, ayanda got into hacking
since they had always known their way around a computer, becoming a hacker was pretty natural for them
instead of hacking celebrities accounts or leaking information about tv shows, they went the hacktivist route
ayanda went after big politicians, big politicians like their father
they learned that their father wasn’t as great & progressive as they were led to believe
they didn’t expose their father because that felt like crossing a line but ayanda is unafraid to cross all other lines
i’m still working out the kinks because this is a new muse !
from the moment the familiar figure had entered the shop, eli’s mood had instantly flipped. why, of all days, did today have to be the day that SHE was on his list of clientele? eli wasn’t a particularly petty person, as he didn’t believe in the mantra that revenge was the best medicine, but he just couldn’t help himself and so decided to make her sundae then go out the back to speak with his co workers. once he finally decided to bring her treat, he was, unsurprisingly greeted with a frosty reception. ‘ i— what? you don’t want me complimenting you? huh, whatever you say. i can certainly do that with ease, ’ he responded, his hues now glaring into hers, a disgruntled expression evident on his features.
sofia was pretty peeved that of all the people making her sundae, the most annoying little boy had to be the one to make it. his optimistic & sunshiney attitude did not work well with her more icy attitude. she wouldn’t usually make a big deal at a restaurant, because it was in public after all. but something about eli just didn’t sit right with her. their mutual dislike of each other was apparent to anyone observing their conversation. ' i was talking about how long the sundae took but you can lay off the compliments as well. i know i’m beautiful. ’
another glance was given over at the dark-haired woman and hannah let her voice return to a normal pitch, one more appropriate for a regular discussion. “you don’t spend a lot of time around kids, do you?” she questioned. “toddlers are rarely quiet. full of energy or tired. parents actually express a lot of worries when their kiddo gets quiet.”
sofia raised her eyebrows at hannah’s questions. “why would i ever voluntarily spend time with children?” she asked, as if she would rather be doing anything else other than spending time with kids. “i didn’t ask for a child psychology lesson. just ask her if she can like...not scream, so i can enjoy my meal.”
“oof, someone’s a grumpy goose!” though the words are spoken about the speaking adult, hazel eyes remain on the little girl that she was taking care of, still lit up with absolute light and excitement. “sorry, she’s a little excited to be here. tomorrow’s her first disney trip.”
“ i’m not a fu - i’m not a grumpy goose. i just want to be able to eat in peace. ” sofia snapped. she sighed and looked at the little girl, “ have fun at disney, kid. ” coming from a different person, the words would’ve seemed sweet but coming from sofia they seemed...very insincere which was because they were.
with the bowl secured in his hand, eli ambled over to the table number that was printed on the order receipt and glanced down at it, reading out the orders one by one. as he began to place them onto the table, he took a glance down at the people sat at the table and paused for a moment. he was daydreaming, perhaps about the person at the table or perhaps at how delicious their order looked. when he came back to reality, he stumbled over his words slightly, ‘ uh, sorry, i got a bit lost then, can’t ignore a pretty face, ’ he admitted with a nervous chuckle, as he attempted to come up with an excuse quickly. ‘ enjoy your treats. ’ he smirked awkwardly, before he began to turn on his heel to walk back behind the counter.
the ice cream shop wasn’t where sofia usually got her treats. she usually got them from her work at the sweet escape bakery when eddie wasn’t looking. but today was so hot, they were in florida after all, she decided she needed an ice cream. she gave the waiter a fairly simple sundae order -- just vanilla and whipped cream and sprinkles. but it seemed to be taking forever despite the simplicity of the order. when eli, someone who wasn’t too fond of her in the first place, gave her the sundae, she figured it was because he didn’t like her. ‘ just don’t let it happen again, okay ? ’ she stated, harshly.
it had been an unusually busy day at the pay-a-penny bookstore and, whilst levi often didn’t mind work, he needed a break. escaping from the confines of the store and the smell of new and old books alike, he made his way down the alley behind the shop, leaning back against the wall with a sigh of relief as he lit up a cigarette and took a long drag. he closed his eyes, soaking up the silence and the nicotine rushing through his airways, but it wasn’t long before he heard another set of footsteps, sensed someone else joining him. “what do you want?” he groaned, lips still wrapped around the cigarette, and turned to face his company.
bookstores weren’t sofia’s number one place to hang out. in fact, bookstores weren’t even on the list. but she was interested in reading a memoir on a businessman who she admired so she decided to go to the penny-a-day bookstore. she had walked from her own work, the sweet escape bakery, and the way took her around the back of the bookstore. before she could get to the front, she came across a male who was about her age smoking a cigarette. “i don’t want anything from you except for you to stop smoking because secondhand smoke is a thing.”
sofia was working at the bakery, wishing she were anywhere else at the moment. most of the time, sofia really regretted moving from new york city to celebration. there was so much more opportunity for business in new york but there was something about the rumors that drew her to the florida town. she often dreamed about leaving the town & returning home, but there was always something that kept her in the town. one of the somethings just walked through the door of the bakery. sofia’s eyes flitted up when she heard the jingle of the door. she quietly got up & told eddie that she was going on her break. she then grabbed thea & took her outside the bakery. sofia wasn’t sure what thea was, she had never had a thea before. “ hey ,” she said, quietly, which was uncharacteristic for her but something about thea brought that out in her. she quickly backed up the other girl against the brick of the bakery and left a soft kiss on her lips.
“well, my sister and her husband decided that they were going on vacation without their little girl which means it’s just ellie and her aunt hannah this week. and s o m e b o d y loves their aunt hannah, doesn’t she?” there’s nothing in the world that hannah loves more than babies and toddlers, related to her or not. “i didn’t sleep last night, but that’s okay!”
“ do you mind keeping it down ? some of us are trying to eat in peace. ” sofia didn’t mind kids but she certainly didn’t have an affinity for them. all she wanted was a nice lunch break from her job as a cashier & what she got was two loud people who wouldn’t quiet down, despite her glaring.
“ no ! no, no, no, no, NO ! ” a bang, a crash, and then the sound of something shattering. “ i – i am so sorry. i’ll pay for it, i promise. ”
“ yeah, you will, ” sofia grumbled as she saw the display case of cupcakes shatter into tiny pieces. “ i can’t believe this is the shit eddy makes me deal with everyday. ” she sighed as she went to get a broom & dustpan to clean up the mess that she didn’t even make.
