ʚ A/N: This one ended up getting a part two by accident and it'll be out sometime this week! I used pics from Romeo + Juliet (1996) for the play visuals since that’s the version they’re doing.
ACT I — STAGE DIRECTIONS

Scene: Chemistry Test Location: Rehearsal Room, Late Afternoon
The stage is dimly lit except for a soft amber wash over the EXIT door. JUN and Y/N tiptoe toward it, bags in hand. The door creaks open—
MISS JUNG (O.S.) Jun. Y/N.
You freeze. The door halts mid-open. Dead silence. One beat. Then—
STAGE DIRECTION Every cast member turns to look at you in unison. Eyes wide. Guilty. Some hold their breath. Some smirk knowingly. It's obvious: they were all thinking of doing the same thing, but Jun and Y/N were the unfortunate ones who got caught.
MISS JUNG (O.S.) (firm, distracted) Come here for a minute.
She is seated near center stage, scribbling something furiously on a clipboard. Doesn’t even glance up.
JUN (groans, under his breath) We were so close.
You turn around in defeat. Walk to center stage like you’re approaching a firing squad. Miss Jung finally looks up.
MISS JUNG (bluntly) We need to talk about the chemistry between you two.
Y/N and Jun exchange a quick glance, uncertain. Compliment? Criticism? Impossible to tell. Miss Jung lifts her head fully now, peering at them through thick glasses.
MISS JUNG (matter-of-fact) You’re good. (a beat) But not believable.
That lands hard. Silence. Jun’s posture stiffens. Y/N flinches visibly.
STAGE DIRECTION A collective “ouch” echoes in your souls. Somewhere, an actor's ego weeps.
Y/N (voice-over in your head) Top ten worst things you can hear as an actor? “You’re not believable” is at least number three.
MISS JUNG I want the audience to ache when you look at each other. To feel something in the silence. (she stands now, pacing slightly) Right now, it’s surface. Polished. Safe. And safe doesn’t sell.
A click. Miss Jung closes her pen. The sound echoes ominously.
MISS JUNG (with flair) So. Here’s an idea.
She pauses. The silence stretches.
MISS JUNG Have you ever heard of method acting?
Jun slowly turns his head to look at Y/N. Trying not to laugh. Y/N stares ahead, blinking, stunned.
Y/N (flatly) Yes, ma’am.
MISS JUNG (brisk, passionate) Fake date.
Beat.
MISS JUNG (rattling off like it’s obvious) Hold hands. Post stories. Be annoying. Get people whispering. Blur the lines.
She leans in slightly. A shift in tone, softer. More dangerous.
MISS JUNG And maybe… it’ll become real.
Another long pause. Jun glances at Y/N again. You still won’t meet his eyes.
MISS JUNG (back to business) I want you to live in character until curtain call. No breaking up. No excuses. Eat like them. Walk like them. Breathe in sync. Know each other’s rhythms.
JUN (raising a hand like a student) Wait. You want us to literally… date?
MISS JUNG (snaps) Not date, Mr. Wen. Feel.
She stares at both of you, intense.
MISS JUNG Fall for each other like it’s inevitable. I don’t care if it’s fake— (pointed) —as long as it feels true.
She turns and strides off. No further explanation. The door clicks shut behind her.
Silence.
Jun and Y/N are left alone center stage. Still frozen. Matching expressions: horror, disbelief, a touch of dread.
Y/N (barely a whisper) She’s joking. Right?
Jun looks at you. Blinks once.
JUN You know she’s not.
Beat. The kind of silence that stretches too long.
JUN (quietly, resigned) So... fake dating?
Y/N (deadpan) God help us.
Lights dim. End scene.
