Punctuation Matters by The Visual Communication Guy
The most persuasive arguments for punctuation I’ve seen so far!
(via https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mFbTIUnvHcw)
October 13, 1775 - In March 1794 Congress responded by calling for the construction of a half-dozen frigates. And, once again, the United States had a navy. Although the Continental navy was later dismantled, October 13, 1775 remains the U.S. Navy’s official birthday.
That moment when the Navy’s post has the Coast Guard motto in the middle of it.
I remember posting somewhere once in a thread about why girls aren’t exploited in animation anymore where some guy said, “all the disney girls are drawn to be generally attractive, but I don’t think there are any eye-candy men… or are there? Are there any Disney men that lots of girls like?” and I mentioned Roger. Tons of girls replied agreeing with me and the original guy was like “wait, Roger? from 101 Dalmatians? What’s attractive about him, he’s tall and lanky and has a big nose, he isn’t muscley at all! Wouldn’t you all prefer Gaston or something? Or do you girls think his big nose is indicative of something else?” and I was like “no, you idiot, he’s a silly, goofy guy who likes animals and can play a bunch of instruments, that’s why he’s attractive. What’s the matter with you? Gaston, seriously?”
This is why we need more girls in animation. And more guys like Roger apparently.
This is why I laugh my ass of whenever dudes talk about how men are “objectified” by the media too. Because 9 times out of 10, what men think is “women objectifying men” are characters like Gaston.
And Gaston is NOT a woman-driven fantasy. Gaston is a male wish fulfillment fantasy. Gaston is not what women want, he is what men want to be. He is hyper-masculinity to an extreme degree, dripping with sexism and testosterone. The fact that men think that Gaston is what women want says an awful lot about those men.
While I don’t want to generalize, female fans tend to prefer a very different kind of male hero. We like the Rogers, the Milos, the Hercules. Genuinely kind, often awkward men who are sometimes vulnerable and respectful to women.
Yes, this is a generalization. I own up to that. But I think it’s important to remember that there is often VERY big difference between what MEN want to be and what women WANT in our media.
Reblogging this again because fucking this. And hell, even the muscley dudes (see: Hercules, Thor, Captain America) are loved, not because they are muscley, but because they are sweet and loving and adorable. We love Thor because his mispronounces “Hubble” as “Hooble,” not because of what he can do with a hammer.
Reblogging for the awesome comments.
I honestly think that Roger really influenced my idea of masculinity as a young boy. I watched this movie a lot and he (+ his style) was always my favorite.
My rotating laptop background of male attractiveness speaks to this. The current roster includes: Special Agent Dale Cooper Dr. Daniel Jackson The 9th Doctor DI Greg Lestrade Phil Coulson Markiplier Wolf from “The Tenth Kingdom” Wyatt Cain Rupert Giles I have a definite type, and that type is earnest, kind, and nerdy.
Christians are continuing to die everyday all around the world for their faith in countries who can throw them in jail for just owning a bible.
ISIS continues to constantly behead, rape, torture, and kill Christians in cold blood. Despite their nationalities or gender.
Did you know in the middle-east Christians are being crucified and beheaded for just proclaiming the word of God and refusing to convert to Islam?
Did you know that in the recent Oregon Shooting at a College campus that the shooter specifically picked out Christians and shot them point blank?
All around the world, every single day, my brothers and sisters in Christ are killed for just being a Christian. Yet, every single day I also hear people tell me:
“Christians aren’t persecuted anymore!”
“Christians aren’t killed anymore!”
“Christians aren’t singled out!”
“Christians aren’t forced to change!”
“They’re the ones who persecute US!”
Yeah. OK. If you say so. While you tell me that my heavenly family isn’t being killed for being sons and daughters in Christ, I’ll continue to pray for the millions of fellow Christians who die for having the courage to stand up for God’s word.

I Am Depression
I am sleepless nights in spite of my exhaustion
I am procrastination and apathy in spite of my ambition
I am loneliness and mistrust in spite of my friends
I am everything and nothing in spite of myself
But through the pain and through the masks
Perhaps something more is fighting to shine through
Maybe, just maybe, there is a deeper truth, that
I am depression
But depression is not me.

This was one of the better Stargate movies.
You know what grinds my gears?
Books/movies that have an angel falling in love and sleeping with a human. Like, really? That is a pure spirit who has seen God in all His glory, whose whole purpose is to uphold Gods teachings; it is not going to be taken in by your sinfulness. TRY AGAIN.
Just angels in general being depicted badly makes me angry.
Yeah! Screw you, Book of Enoch, with your crazy angel/human fanpairings...

The thing I love about tumblr is that you get a look inside different people’s thought processes. It’s like, ok, Sarah’s on a bit of a cupcake kick right now, and Jim’s a wee bit TOO obsessed with the history fandom today. Oh, and now Sarah’s thinking about kittens. She must have a test this week.
