interesting question. can magnus have allergies? like you’d figure that with magic and immortality these kinds of problems wouldn’t be present, right? i mean if anything with healing magic you can get your body to stop freaking out every time a specific substance is there and bam problem solved. not to mention that with some kinds of allergies prolonged exposure can grow your body used to it and essentially end the allergy (i used to be allergic to mosquito bites, now i barely feel them anymore because there are so many where i live lmao) and being immortal and travelling the world, he’d have come into contact with all sorts of substances over time

but that also got me thinking, like, what about magical allergies? your magic reacting to certain kinds of substances or magical... patterns? in a way similar to alergy. like idk dust from a specific hell realm, or allergy to glamour spells (man the angst potential with that one) or other specific kind of spells, or magic with specific characteristics... we don’t know a lot about how magic works because sh would rather die than give us lore but they do mention types of magic, how they are able to know if the magic is ancient, if it’s powerful, where it’s from, if it’s seelie or warlock magic, etc. so maybe different magic users have different magic signatures which means different components and someone could be allergic to someone else’s magic in that case? hmmm. much to think about

oh that sorta makes sense actually! i got that it was kinda like an organ transplant thing, you know, incompatibility, but that’s kinda similar to an allergy, isn’t it? like your body reacts to it like it’s an intruder and starts fighting itself. so like yeah maybe if it weren’t on his body he’d only have a mild reaction but he might have an allergy to his/bellal’s magic

Okay but imagine Magnus figuring out he has actually had allergies this whole time while he was m*rtal. Like, he’s eating something with like peanut oil/ peanut butter/ peanut sauce and starts having like moderate anaphylaxis and he looks at like Simon or Raph or Clary or someone else with experience being ~human~ and he’s like ????? and they’re like oh you must be allergic to peanuts and he’s like I thought peanuts just made your throat itchy what the fuck is this????

ok but like magnus freaking out because he is ALLERGIC TO PEANUTS WHAT THE FUCKC and simon is like “yeah i used to be allergic to mint so i feel you” and magnus is choking up all like I CAN’T BELIEVE I LIVED 400 YEARS TO DIE BECAUSE OF PEANUTS and everyone is like “magnus you’re not dying do you think we’d all be sitting here if you were” and he’s just freaking out

cannot & will not ever stop thinking about the way raphael made it a point to go to the jade wolf to pay his respects to heidi, and the way that he steps into the sun and maia freezes and he nods like “i understand”, ready to leave, but really she was just shocked because he stepped into the sun, but raphael really… he went there to apologize and pay his respects to the wolves and only that, and he was ready to be rejected and not wanted anywhere near them, but he did it anyway… and i wonder if that’s one of the things that made maia start liking him. the way he owned up to it like that, and wanted to respect her, despite the fact that they didn’t know each other and she was a werewolf and he was a former vampire? you know what i mean?

also the fact that she welcomed him and let him sit down and brought him some beer like! yes i know that she was interested in hearing how the hell he became mundane but initially she wasn’t even interested in that, it was JORDAN who said “okay but think what that means for us”, she was just pissed that this was done to people without their consent and that aldertree was trying to neutralize them. so like even without any interest she still… was willing to hear him out and maia is usually wary of new people - for good reason - and she had every reason to be wary of raphael but she just… wasn’t. she accepted his apology and she saw the way he was genuinely regretful and didn’t want to push and it’s what she deserves tbh

“Okay, you’re going to love this,” Simon was talking excitedly, fiddling with the TV in the central of the clan common areas.

Raphael was keeping an eye on him, making sure he didn’t break anything. Since taking over as clan leader, Raphael had worked to find ways to bring them all closer together. Having clean, comfortable places for them all to hang out during the day was one part of this. He had spent good money on the TV Simon was now behind.

“Watch out!” Raphael used his vampire speed to catch the TV as it tipped.

“Sorry!” Simon said. Raphael held the TV until Simon reappeared. “Okay, I have attached the Switch.”

“Excuse me?”

“The Nintendo Switch!” Simon pointed at the little device, now in a stand and hooked up. “You told me everyone gets to add something to make the Dumort feel like home.”

“You don’t even live here,” Raphael pointed out. “Did you take some money to pay for this?”

“Yes, from the community savings-”

“You know what, that’s fine,” Raphael pinched the bridge of his nose and mentally moved Simon up on his list of problem clan members. “Why do you think I’ll love this?”

“I’m going to show you the wonders of modern technology,” Simon said, sitting on the couch, controller in hand.
