Im not gonna lie this is the nail in the coffin for me with clash…
So uh, nahhh. Im good
Between being not too fond of the manager worship in the fandom and the clash team lobotomizing their own game, in my eyes im just done.
Rather than becoming bitter or anything like that, I’m putting this blog on ice indefinitely. if you like me or my art in general, regardless of toontown, look at these;
Main Blog (Random stuff I like/reblog)
https://www.tumblr.com/softpopdrink
Squirrel and Hedgehog related blog (current fandom/art I draw)
https://www.tumblr.com/weaselfactoryex
I still like the idea of Toontown. I may like a few posts here and there going forward. I may or may not finish Greening Sideshow. We’ll see. I’m a small blog, so me leaving wont make a huge difference.
See yall later.
(Below is a rant section, so please ignore if you dont care for that.)
Is it just me, or does it seem like the clash team is bending their own backs to cater to the more ravenous, clash manager obsessed sides of the fandom? Being a fan of normal cogs, or TOONS for that matter sucks. Godspeed if you like anything besides Clash in general. Rewritten fans are just that, written off and not as noticed as their clash counterparts. You can see the interaction disparity just by looking on the tumblr tags. It literally took a ‘manager-like’ update with the new department heads for the game to get any sort of traction.
If you’re a fan of a server like ODS/Realms/literally any smaller server then god…I dont know what to say. I’m so sorry. What little attention you get for that hard work, and the small teams that are still holding on despite being brushed aside CONSTANTLY. You all are certainly strong. It must be absolute HELL to constantly be told to use your talents for clash or rewritten. Or to be told that your work would be great (as a feature for a larger server)…
Corporate Clash itself seems to be buckling under the swaths of new fans only arriving for the manager cogs. A lot of the updates and lore changes post 1.3 just seem to further weaken and break the game. Mechanics wise, the clash team seems to think that making manager fights hellish or straight up impossible to beat unless you do very specific character builds or strategies is a good thing. SPOILERS!!! Its not. Sure, you pat the back to anyone who unhealthily studies the game or looks at the wiki, but to new players who just wanna casually go through the story? They get chewed up and spit right back out by some out of nowhere cheat for the umpteenth time—
Looking at lore is a shaky subject in Corporate clash, so i understand wanting to tweak things. Alas, the clash team seems to want their cake and to eat it too…by wiping away 90% of Pre-1.3 updates without acknowledging the massive gaps in lore that opens up. Its not like they can’t look back and reference lore either. If a lowly fan like myself can piece things together then why cant the staff of literal game? They claim that old lore is confusing, when it literally takes a couple google searches to find what they’re looking for! The clash managers LITERALLY are the results of actions and events in Break the Law, aka, pre- 1.3 lore. To remove that removes their point of existence. Removing The CJ’s prior existence in the game, as well as him quitting, LITERALLY removes the reason why the CLO, and the Litigation Team exist in the overall story. Absolute nonsense.
Okay. Something slightly more positive.
I can understand why they wanna distance theirselves from Coach Z. Having a character associated to a homophobic old man sucks. I’m not too mad about that.
I understand why the Clash team thinks their choices are beneficial. Regardless of how much I stomp and whine, going forward, the clash manager cogs are the ‘blueprints’ of success for Toontown servers going forward. All of them are great challenges (when not constantly buffed) and breathe life into a 20+ year old game. Each of the managers are great characters in their own right, i just wish the fans didn’t treat them as the center of the universe.
At the end of the day, the clash team isn’t getting paid for all they do. They do all this stuff, updates for free, and that’s amazing. It’s just not for me anymore.
Hello all yes man likers and freaky fucks in the objectum world alike. I have fantastic news. Yesterday i was up at 4 am calculating yes man’s height and this guy who studied architecture deduced (using a house in vegas because home houses are roughly 6’8) that yes man is 6’10, 7 ft pushing it. (208.28cm-213.36cm)
HOWEVER. This door was slightly elevated by a staircase by 1-2 inches so i BELIEVE hes more like 7 ft or 7’1 ft (213.36cm-216.9cm)
This is just an estimatw though so its not exact shit. But it is close! Have fun. Enjoy this information.
This also used the yes man companion mod and that in general just uses a normal securitron/yes man’s securitron model for this so yknow yeagh. That 7 ft mark goes for all Mark II securitrons
Person that helped me figure this out yesterday feel free to do like a “LOOK GARY THERE I AM” to this because i dont remember your @ here
Been seeing some posts about the Q and A the clash writing team did and man…
((WARNING: light rant below; mostly me rambling about worldbuilding aaaa))
I’m not fond of what the writing team wants to do, especially since it seems like they’re hyper-focusing on the kudos/street managers. It’s this section in particular that’s got me thinking and worried.
MAN does this phrase here have a lot of food for thought. Not just because of the horror fanfic i’m making, but now things clearly seem to be taking a large turn into the ‘Manager-focused plot’ I feared Clash would write themselves into.
Idk. The way i’m thinking about it, it’s a bit self destructive writing wise for suits to be in inherent ‘tiers’. (Grunt cogs have less personality/free will than managers, ete.)
If one of the goals is to show how COGs Inc exploits and mistreats their workers, isn’t it shooting yourself in the foot saying ‘COGs inc is a horrible company to ALL its workers’, but then turning to say ‘oh yeah, all those cogs aren’t as sentient compared to THESE ones’—
Like, in the case of ‘grunt’ cogs, wouldn’t these cogs be the ‘ground zero’ of the atrocities the company commits? Literally built for one purpose in life, in a cycle of being destroyed and rebuilt constantly without any say or agency. Being held under the thumb of a dubious company that in all technicality owns you, so you can’t really leave unless you’re fired?
If the grunt cogs were just as self preserving and sentient as the managers, then the message would be hammered in better. THEY’d be the ones constantly put under all the pressure for virtually nothing. Instead, the writing team has introduced the dilemma of ‘who is aware/deserving of company rights’.
If these (grunt) suits are inherently ‘lesser’ than their manager counterparts, then it changes the gravity of the situation from ‘discriminatory company practices’ to ‘changing a piece of machinery.’ No real loss, and its business as usual. The very problem i’d imagine the writing team wants to warn and help players to recognize in the story.
While not treated much better, it’s been shown/implied that manager cogs (specifically kudos/street and Litigation) get a lot more benefits and free time than anyone else besides bosses.
Removing personality/preservation from ‘grunt’ suits changes this element in the story from ‘They have higher positions, thus better work benefits,’ to ‘They get those benefits because they KNOW that they have them in the first place.’
In general, lot of the managers seem to have the luxury of being built without a specific company in mind, having childhoods, and ultimately CHOOSING to work at COGs Inc. Many seem to forget the whole reason the kudos/street managers were hired in the first place was in response to Atticus Wing’s death.
They weren’t randomly ‘dropped in’, and now the story needs to be changed to accommodate them. There already was an explicit reason, and it doesn’t seem to conflict with any manager lore after the fact. Why bend over backwards to force them into the story rewrites more?
I understand the managers are super popular, and have been a game changer in terms of story and gameplay, but I honestly feel they’re also blinding people in terms of prior lore and potential lore avenues. There’s no need to break the story/lore further to make the ‘special’ cogs even more ‘special’.
At the end of the day, I get the writing team wants to add more flavor, and I commend them for doing all this for free! Writing isn’t easy, and this isn’t me hating on them at all. I’m just not fond of this manager-centric mindset gripping people. I’m certainly looking forward to all the future content they wish to add, specifically rewrites in toon NPCS.
Anyway just had this in the back of my mind for a minute, feel free to throw in your two cents if ya like.
is the confused mingler sweet and joyful like a mingler of aggressive and intimidating like a number cruncher
She’s pretty ‘lukewarm’ in terms of personality! If I had to pick one though, I’d say she’s closer to a number cruncher.
Going into detail, I’d personally say she acts similar to the COO, Thomas. She can get angry if consistently pressed. Overall she’s socially awkward disguised as ‘cool and calm’. Don’t be fooled, she can still get a bit bossy like a mingler every other day, but that’s just the nature of business.
