So awesome to see someone into raw denim like you are and even cooler to see more women into it. I'm a guy but I'm aware of some really great American brands that stock some fun stuff. My current favorite being 3sixteen. Stay cool.

Hi~ I was wondering if you've noticed any stretch in your Baldwins or if you think they fit true to size? p.s. sweet collection of raws!

They stretch and I think they are one size bigger than my standard sizes. With the stretch, recommend you to go down one size :)

hi, i was googling on momotaro 7003sp and chanced upon somebody asking u about it. as im planning to buy it online, i would like to know more information abt the sizing and cutting. does it stretch a lot? did you size down/up etc? pls help! thanks in advance! :)

I went raw denim shopping in April in Tokyo and came back with some great jeans. Now a coworker of mine is in Tokyo for business and wants to buy a pair or two while she’s there, but she’s a woman and I’m a man. Most of the stores I went to seemed to cater to guys exclusively. Do you have any good suggestions for stores she could visit that would carry women’s cuts? I recommended Pure Blue Japan and 45rpm, and I know Momotaro makes some, but don’t know a good store for her. Help? :D

Hi - I personally did not find any "general" stores that carried raw denim for girls. She can either rakuten online or best to visit the flagship stores for each brand in tokyo. Momotaro, studio artisan ive been and both had stock for ladies. Im sure pure blue does too. Skulls u can buy from their website too.

Latest purchase - redcloud~ Love the leather patch, cool name and the uyghur cotton. Pity only half selvedge and still trying to figure out where to chain stitch this baby up.

Hi! I'm looking to buy a pair of the Studio D'artisan 703's but was wondering what size to choose... I normally wear size 24 jeans for a slim skinny fit. Did you have to size up 1 or 2 sizes? Thanks in advance!! So glad I found female blog on raw denim :)

Hi~ I'm normally a 24 in most denim brands and SDA size is a bit funny. I think the smallest is 26 which has a similar measuring to my other size 24 denims. I would say get the smallest size possible as they do stretch. The SDA for me fits perfectly around the bum, legs but the waist is just a tiny bit big but overall looks nice. Momotaro is so far the best fit for me.

Tokyo Rawdenim Hunt

Just got back from Tokyo. It was my first trip to Japan since my addiction to good quality denim so I was looking forward to try on some denim. I had two days of shopping time all to myself. Before just going around like a headless chicken, I read up on the Superfuture denim forum and went to nearly all of the shops suggested there….my conclusion from the two days is that even in Tokyo, raw denim is really not a thing for girls. The only stores that had proper raw denim for girls is the flagship stores of the major brands like Momotaro, SDA and they only had the standard ones from their website which I already own…

Picture was taken outside the SDA store tucked away in the harajuku area. Funny enough I was wearing my SDA when I visited that store. My regret is not looking up Samurai while I was there to try on the Geisha, I somehow assumed the non flagship denim stores would have some…

Boyz - If only time for one stop?

Harajuku had more of the washed down fashion and vintage denims but I like the raw stuff so really enjoyed Ueno. If you can only visit one place while you are in Tokyo, I would recommend visiting Ueno: Two stores side by side really easy to find:

1) Americaya – Loved this store, they had many different brands – samurai, Evisu, SDA, Flathead etc. The shop assistances were really laid back which matched the non commercial feel of the store. Really liked that. I was looking for a raw western style denim shirt for my boy and the guys there were really helpful. With my broken Japanese, they managed to find the shirts for me, point out the difference and find a shop assistance similar size to my boy to try it on for me. I think I can be friends with this bunch.

2) Hinoya – They have 3 branches there, I went to all three and liked the one next to Americaya the most. Maybe cos they had Momotaro in that store and lots lots of chinos, whats the deal with that?.

None of them stored proper raw denim for girls and so I asked back “Why not????!!!!!!” pretty sure that wasn’t very japanese of me haha

Ueno also have handmade leather belts, wallets there… Im also a leather fan so big bonus.

Hey, Im going to Tokyo in April too :) There is stores in Tokyo for both brands. Just google them you should be able to find the store address, if not let me know.

Ive been searching for a pair of raw denim in a size 24 without elastic in it. However, I absolutely cant find them! I saw that you had a pair of Momotaro jeans but I cant locate them online either. Any brands, websites, or ideas would help tremendously.

Sorry for the late reply. I got mine from Japan. I know there are some online stores for momotaro but not in size 24... which country are you based out of? momotaro should have few resellers around the world.
