when you remember what happened to the word "woke" you'll never stop being mad. woke originally meant to "stay alert" during antiblack racial injustices that black individuals face and now it got turned into meme shit and it's genuinely infuriating when antiblack systemic oppression is still ongoing across the world.

All that is gold does not glitter,
Not all those who wander are lost;
The old that is strong does not wither,
Deep roots are not reached by the frost.
From the ashes a fire shall be woken,
A light from the shadows shall spring;
Renewed shall be blade that was broken,
The crownless again shall be king.”

275-277: "Robin's Past! The Girl was called a Devil!"; "Fated Mother and Daughter! The Mother's Name is Olvia!" and "The Tragedy of Ohara! The Terror of the Buster Call!"
Someone has sneaked in and dropped some tears into my eyes. No idea how they managed it. I wipe them away, but they just keep coming back.
I finally learned about Robin’s past.
Damn, it is sad. Robin’s life has been blighted by loneliness. She came by a Devil Fruit at a young age and was ostracised for it. The local kids called her a monster and threw tomatoes at her. The adults weren’t much better. The only person left who loved her left to pursue dangerous, criminal archaeological research. After that, Robin lived with the Dursleys, who subjected her to Cinderella style abuse (I swear that shot when she was crying scrubbing the floor…) The one light in her life was the books she read on archaeology and her studies earned her a doctorate.
The only thing was… the very area she wanted to study: the OPverse’s “Blank History” is a criminal offence. Never mind that all her Ohara archaeological chums were up to their eyes in illegal research. Robin was told to stop because she was too young and was left out of the loop.
She was so lonely, she met the giant Vice-Admiral Saul. D. Jaguar washed up on the beach and wasn’t fazed (that D. has not gone unnoticed). She was just grateful for a friend. He taught her how to laugh.
And then Chief Spandine showed up.
He’s another World Government dickhead of the highest order: a drama-queen coward on a power trip.
Robin mother, Olvia, had been captured by the runaway Saul and the World Government discovered they were from Ohara and had been deciphering the poneglyphs. Once the officials arrived and discovered evidence, Spandine pressed the button to execute the Buster Call. There was no going back.
Why is it such a heinous crime to decipher poneglyphs?
There is a “blank century” of history eight-hundred years ago. This coincides neatly with the founding of the World Government eight-hundred years ago. Professor Clover and his archaeological chums discovered a grand kingdom that existed before then that had been wiped off the map by an alliance of countries that would become the World Government. To preserve their history, culture and ideals, they carved them into stone and scattered them about the world.
The World Government claim the researchers want to revive a weapon. I’m calling bullshit on this. There is no weapon. The weapon is a diversion, a cover for the real crime: whatever the WG did to wipe out that nameless kingdom.
I wonder if the Pirate King and the One Piece are related to reclaiming the nameless kingdom? Gol D. Roger was the Pirate King and he could decipher poneglyphs too.
At any rate, the WG do not want anyone to find out what they did and do not want anyone to find out about the existence of the nameless kingdom or its ideology. (Ideas are powerful things, right?)
So they blew the place up. Buster Called the shit out of Ohara and wiped out their library. There were a few names I’d like to remember here: Kuzan (was that Aokiji? Sure looked like him), Admiral Sengoku and the Five Elder Stars.
It was lucky for Robin that Saul D. Jaguar was there, otherwise I don’t think she would have made it out of Ohara alive. She probably wishes she hadn’t. She wanted to stay at the time. She just met her mother and then she was taken away from her again, off to do a crucial something that Robin would understand one day when she was older.
Her last words to Robin?
“Live, Robin!”
Robin just wanted to hold her hand. ;_;
Little Robin. ;_;
(Edit: Kizaru -> Kuzan. Got my Ks mixed up).
