headcanon : death’s process of dying
yes, this sounds strange, but let me talk ! the less life there is, the weaker death becomes. without humans, he is not needed any longer. so, as it is natural, he will slowly vanish along with them. this is, however, separated into several stages :
i. loss of weight as popularity decreases, death suffers the most common sign of weakness. skin tightening over muscles & bones, hip bones, collar bones, rips, spine slowly, but gradually becoming visible underneath.
ii. loss of sight the nerves are what dissolves next, starting in his eyes. his eyesight will gradually deteriorate, leaving him with a blurry & later without any sight.
iii. loss of feeling his skin is attacked next, even more nerves dying as the amount of population reaches a critical low. this particular sense has always been dulled, now it will disappear completely. no touch will be felt anymore, bite as hard as you like.
iv. loss of form in the latest stage, his entire form will vanish. becoming distorted & untouchable first, like one might imagine a ghost, to slowly reaching an almost shine-through level. until it no longer exists, much like all the souls he has collected. he will still exist, though. a presence will linger for as long as there is still existing life.
minor changes : eyes gradually losing color until they are white/light-blue, skin changing to nearly white, hair losing its blond pitch, voice breaking more often, general shakiness in his hands, stumbling & occasional loss of consciousness
