Remember, it’s not a competition
This is so important. Seriously. It’s NEVER meant to be a competition. It’s hard for any artist to get started, especially without a lot of showcasing and immediate attention. Many go YEARS drawing and being awesome with hardly, if any, attention at all and these feelings will grow and cause many to give up, which is depressingly sad.
I struggled with these feelings myself, feeling inadequate to other artists as I kept fumbling to grow. However, it is important to remember, NEVER GIVE UP. I’m so glad that I kept drawing. Even when my audience was small I still had at least one person tell me they loved my work. Sometimes it’s that one person that we all need to keep pushing forward. To keep dreaming our big dreams and draw our hearts out. Even if you only get a single note, fav, like, or comment, never forget.
Art is not a competition. It’s a passion. It’s a hobby. It’s a love for life. Art is a part of you, every piece you create and every creation you make. Regardless of the form it is a part of your soul. Keep drawing. Keep writing. Keep Sculpting, Painting, Crafting, Sewing, whatever you do to express yourself.
Never give up.
I’m not crying, you’re crying.
Oh my… I still feel this way at times, and I know some other artists do too, but please keep trying and don’t give up at all like this lovely person said. Even sketching if you feel the need to be creative.

Gaston on women’s Lib.
You see this is the sort of thing I like. Because, especially at Disney, you don’t want to really discourage any of those ideals “thinking, having your own ideas” but you also have to stay in character. So you associate those ideals with the princess in the group, the one who the young girl is supposed to idolize. So, while staying in character, Gaston can announce his displeasure for women who read while also encouraging it in a young girl by giving it the good association of Belle. Idk, I always thought those work arounds that Disney villain face characters go through to not be overtly mean to children but stay in character were really interesting.
I just gained so fucking much respect for this Gaston.
This is a fairly common trope for everyone to use - including princesses! If a girl is shy then they say she’s like Elsa, or if her hair is short like Snow White, etc. there’s always a way to make a positive association.
A friend who really hated puppies *cough* told me she met a boy in a transformers shirt and asked (in character) what that “strange fashion” was and he answered it was a robot and he really liked them. She said “Oh, you sound like that one boy - big marshmallow follows him around -” “Hiro?” “Ugh yes HIRO. Even his name. Well I think he’s far too smart for his own good” And she said the boy’s eyes lit up. Even little associations help boost a kid’s self-esteem.
Fool me once, shame on me.
Fool me twice…
I really try to challenge Canadian stereotypes at every opportunity but today I was walking down Young St. in Toronto and a firetruck honked very loudly and I clutched my chest and said “MY WORD” and as it drove past, a fireman leaned out of the window and apologized to me so I just don’t know

8-Year-Old Girl Receives Gifts From The Crows She’s Been Feeding Since She Was 4
When 8-year-old Gabi fed the crows in her neighborhood…
…they began to thank her with gifts!
These ‘gifts’ consist of buttons, LEGO pieces, scraps of metal, and even a heart-shaped bead. One time she got a tiny piece of metal with the word “best.”
They bring anything shiny that would fit in their beaks
Gabi has a collection of precious gifts and labels her favorites
Once, Gabi even got a piece of metal with the word “best” on it. “I don’t know if they still have the part that says ‘friend’”
They even returned a camera lens cap that Gabi’s mom Lisa had lost!
Yo this girls gonna be bullied at school one day and wake up to a crow bringing her her bullies fucking eye or something
