I’m super pleased with myself today. I was super productive this morning: I worked a bit on my dissertation on V. Woolf/feminism and started working on my grammar homework YAYY!
So now I’m going to read Orlando and chill on the couch because I deserve it! 🙌🏻
Quick reminder, especially for you younger undergrads: Discipline is a skill, not a character trait. And just like any skill, it can be practiced and improved upon incrementally. Try not to get discouraged if you have a day, or multiple days, where you are less disciplined than you would like or need to be. Don’t quit. Don’t spend the next week binging Netflix because you think it’s a hopeless endeavour. Just get up the next day and try again. Each day you try is more practice, and each day you practice, you’ll get a little bit better, and that continual improvement will pay dividends in the long run.
Keep at it.
a reminder for my followers.
The bottom line is pray. If you’re tired, sick, emotionally overwhelmed—pray. If you’re on cloud nine and life seems perfect—pray. If you lack direction—pray. If you doubt that prayer makes any difference—pray. If the circumstances of your life are out of your control—pray. If the circumstances of your life seem well within you’re your control—pray even harder. Whatever you do—pray.

in multiple interviews jake gyllenhaal has said that he has no friends and i just hope he knows that it doesn’t have to be that way. i could be your friend jake. i wouldn’t mind
grey- earbuds in, doesn’t talk, disappearing randomly, always busy, tired face, hard outside soft inside.
yellow- bright eyes, cheerful grin, quick winks, tattered converse, warm heart, city parks, close friends.
blue- denim jackets, patterned socks, messy hair, knowing looks, full coffee mug, roaming the sidewalks.
red- angry glare, strong feelings, ripped jeans, combat boots, leather jackets, bruised knuckles, record stores.
brown- deep eyes, full of stories, old soul, sipping tea, soft skin, vintage clothes, thrift shops, flannel shirts.
green- smoothies, splattered jeans, paintbrush in hand, art museums, road trips, pressed flowers.
recover from ‘burnout’ in five steps
1. reward yourself for working so hard. take a long bath with your favourite bath bomb, take time to cook your favourite meal, paint your nails. recognise that you worked hard and it was tough and that you deserve time for yourself
2. catch up on sleep. nothing makes studying harder than being exhausted. clear your schedule and have a lie in. even if you don’t sleep late, stay in bed and enjoy a guilt-free lazy morning
3. do something fun. invite your friends over for a movie night, take your dog for a walk. remind yourself that there is more to life than textbooks and notes
4. make a plan. start getting ready to get back into study mode. make a todo list, a study schedule, and a list of your deadlines
5. organise your space. declutter your desk so you have a clean space to be productive in. tidy desk, tidy mind
start again.
Can someone just………………. explain French to me?
its spanish but you speak it in cursive
You have 11 letters. You pronounce 4 of them.
Learn to speak spanish. Now learn to speak italian. Now subtract the spanish from italian. You are left with french.
medium-to-low-light plant recommendations, as requested. note: many of these grow well in bright light, too, but they’re pretty hardy and do well in dimmer rooms as well :) links go to care suggestions!

i’m following my heart but it doesn’t seem like she knows the directions either
What to do when you feel like you just can't keep studying
Maybe I’m not the best at this kind of advice, but my friend was struggling and I just had to help her. Thought I would share the advices I gave her:
Take a break!!
Calm down. Push you notes aside and breathe deeply. Breathe a few times. All this worring is not going to take you anywhere. Close your eyes and breathe.
Write down what you feel
Take all those things the voices in your head are telling you and lay them all on the paper. Everything. Trust me, you’ll feel better once you’ve drained all that.
Take a shower
Keeping to try to study isn’t going to take you anywhere if you’re still in the same state. Go and take a shower, a bath. Treat yourself with it. Relax. Let the water wash all that negativity.
Prepare a cup of your comfort drink
Can be tea (like me), can be coffee, can be chocolate, can be even soup. Whatever. Whatever drink makes you feel warm inside, just make a cup of it and drink it slowly.
Sit down and set your mind
Doing all that would be useless if you sit with your notes and start worrying again. Don’t think you have too little time to study. Don’t think you’re not going to make it. Don’t think you can’t. If you set your mind like that, it would happen. Instead, think you will. You will learn that. You will remember it. You will succeed. Take it easy at first, set your goals and start again.
