please keep in mind that learning is always a process. learning to draw, dance, play an instrument, but also learning to say no, learning to start conversations, learning to be more comfortable in your own skin. it’s great setting goals for yourself, as long as you allow yourself to get there gradually instead of immediately wanting to be the best at it (and setting unrealistic standards for yourself because of it). change is rarely a single moment during which everything suddenly shifts, but rather a period of time in which you learn and adjust and improve. you’ll get there, but you must give yourself time to do so.

friendly reminder that you didn’t waste your year. any moments of happiness or comfort, any small accomplishments, they all matter. this has been a really hard year, and simply surviving is something to be proud of.

not to be positive on main or anything but i genuinely, really, for real love people. i love meeting people i love existing with people i love seeing people and hearing people. i love seeing peoples interests i love hearing them talk about them i love when people tell me about their goals and dreams and wishes i love when people enter my life and share the things they love with me

how fucking mindblowing is it that its possible for a person to just show up in ur life, however briefly, and change it forever?? im not talking about the bad experiences i mean the ones u remember forever even if it wasnt really a significant moment. im talking about ms sonja, a customer from when i worked at walmart, who couldnt afford her groceries bc she only had like $2 so i gave her the money from my pockets and she told me she believed i was an angel that god had sent to her. i think about her all the time and yet it was such a brief moment in time

im talking about angel, the person i saw while working one day and asked their pronouns and they were nervous to mention them but it was clear they felt safe around me because they frequently came back to my area of the store to say hi some days and show me some lgbt+ related things they thought were cool. i think about them so often

and im talking about the time when i was younger, i passed a man playing his sax in a parking lot for money and i was having a bad time in my life but he randomly stopped me and told me to keep my head up and keep going. he gave me a whole mini speech on it and to this day i still think about him and i still hope hes doing alright

idk i just think that being able to experience others and leave an impact can be a really beautiful thing and that people are so so important and wonderful

It’s okay to be a beginner at the things you are interested in. There is no reason to feel intimidated by people more advanced than you are, because they too were in your place at one point. Keep learning and growing and expanding in whatever it is that you love and let nothing and no one stop you. You don’t have to be at the same stage as someone else. You can just be at your stage and that one is okay too.
