City Co-Labs: Re-Making Place from Makerversity on Vimeo.
How can we re-imagine inclusion, interaction and civic good within future cities?
Makerversity’s Civic Hacks addresses the big social issues of our time. We create new collaborations between makers to radical solutions to social problems. Our Re-Making Place Civic Hack explored the future city via the way we use and design its public spaces. Makers worked together on new ideas reimagining the function of urban public space.
This exhibition presents the Civic Hack's outcomes in partnership with the Northbank BID. It drew inspiration from plans to pedestrianise the Strand-Aldwych area. This was our starting point to develop new dialogue on public city spaces in London and beyond.
Come discover our three final team proposals and vote for your favourite concept. The winning team will develop their idea in a 6-month Northbank BID residency at Makerversity.
Join us to re-make place at Somerset House, 16th-22nd September part of London Design Festival! makerversity.org/event/city-co-labs-re-making-place-exhibition/

Studio Ini - Joined 2014
Nassia Inglessis founded her experiential design studio, Studio INI, in 2014. Their focus is ‘augmented materiality,’ bringing the material world closer to human interaction and human intention, how we can actually make material move and flex and respond and carry information. Studio INI practices across disciplines of computation, material and neuroscience, engineering and biology to couple rigorous design research with public engagement through experiential installations. Her work has been exhibited at the V&A and the last two London Design Biennales - her work this year, ΑΝΥΠΑΚΟΗ, featured as the central courtyard installation at Somerset House.
