❛ SABINE WREN IS MINE. ❜
and what she says GOES. the remnants of her academy days linger in how distinctly authoritative her voice sounds — commanding, precise, and final. but it is not spoken with the intent of commanding discipline to a peer; her words are ice, malicious, and true. to prove it, she has already sealed the distance between the clashing pair with the tip of her weapon pointing directly at his chest. when the EMPIRE posts a wanted name it’s only FAIR GAME, up for anyone and everyone’s grabs — aside from this exception. she doesn’t care who he is or what his history is — she’ll make him history if she has to.
❛ find SOMEONE ELSE to snatch the cash for, old man. ❜
He didn’t bother reacting to her statement at first. But then she was walking forwards, pointing a blade at him. Still, he didn’t flinch from where he was leaning on the wall. He just raised his head slightly, red orbs locking with her eyes from under the brim of his hat. “Onyo, right?” the Duro inquired as he raised a hand to remove the toothpick from his mouth. “Black Sun? You know as well as I do that open bounties are fair game to everyone.” Glancing away, he casually flicked the pick at the woman’s shoulder. “I don’t see why I should step aside and let you take care of who the Empire wants dead. ‘Specially when this girl and her friends have got such a price on ‘em. So why are you so interested, hm?” The hand that had been holding the pick went down, one fingertip resting on the blade at his chest, pushing it back gently as he stepped forwards. “You got something personal with this one? You know that’s bad for business.”
❝ If you’d like to avoid violence, disarm the weapon. ❞
“I don’t want any trouble, boy, but that doesn’t mean I’ll make it easy for you. And you won’t be the first Jedi I’ve fought. Now step aside and I won’t tell the Empire I saw you.”
❝ We both know that won’t be happening, Bane. State your business or I will be forced to use lethal force. ❞
“Fine. I don’t want any trouble. Friend of mine is expecting a delivery, and they won’t be happy if I’m late.”

❝ What BUSINESS do you think you have here ? ❞
“Nothin’ you need to worry about. How ‘bout you step aside?”

“Cad Bane, let me guess, another bounty on my head?”
“If it’s any consolation, duchess, it’s strictly for delivering you alive. So i suggest you come quietly.”

“ No bad feelings, I hope, between us, Bane. It was only a job, after all. Certainly you of all people can understand that.“
A Jedi was not supposed to be cocky or smug, but it seemed Obi-Wan was picking up a few bad habits from Anakin.
“Come to brag, Kenobi? That doesn’t seem like you.” The Duros did little to disguise the venom in his voice while regarding the Jedi. If it weren’t for the cell’s shield separating them, he’d be squeezing the life out of Obi-Wan with his own hands. “Is that the only reason you’re visitin’ me? Or are you just bored?”

She ground her teeth; hard. It wasn’t often a client asked of her to have partner, and on the rare occasions she needed one, it was usually a tech specialist. But apparently, this particular client had decided (the bastard) that she needed help. Serious, real help.
Mother Vanesth, she wanted to kill him. What made the situation worse, she thought as she moved for their appointed meeting place, was that it was Bane. Of all the fellow bounty hunters that could have been assigned as her partner (hired, of course, with equal pay to herself…bastard), it had to be Bane. Not that he wasn’t an admirably skilled man, but he aggravated her to no end, and his personality was…grating, at times, to say the least.
As she caught sight of the Blue Bastard, she clenched her jaw, before she smiled politely and bowed her head.
“I see our employer has chosen wisely.”
A compliment? Already? This job had better turn out to be worth it. It was an unspoken fact of the criminal underworld: Cad Bane worked alone. His reputation was steadily growing, and that was one of the reasons. How many could boast of killing Jedi without any help? He had refused to join the bounty hunter’s guild. He had guts, and everyone knew it.
Except for the client, apparently. Which was why the Duros had demanded four times his usual rate. What he had been promised was less, but he knew that his partner would be getting equal pay, and she didn’t deserve to get that much just yet. She was only starting to carve out her place, and in his opinion, didn’t have enough experience yet. It wouldn’t be surprising if she got herself killed. Either way, Bane wanted this over and done with.
“Don’t bother tryin’ to flatter me,” he grumbled, spitting out his toothpick and straightening up from the wall he had been leaning on. Her height didn’t phase him in the slightest. “Before we get down to business, I wanna make one thing clear: I’m in charge. Why our employer bothered involving you at all, I don’t know. But follow my lead, and you might stay alive long enough to get paid. Got it?”

“I don’t want any trouble, youngling. I’m not gettin’ mixed up with you Jedi this time. So why don’t we go our separate ways before things turn ugly?”
❝ This serves no purpose. ❞
“Yer telling me. I say we just blast everything out of the way.”

“Just turn around slowly with your hands up, Jedi. No need to make a mess of things here.”
Grinning under his hat, Bane took a step closer, blaster trained on his target’s head. There hadn’t been many employers with any decent jobs recently. And the ones that did expected him to do the work for lower than his usual rate. So now he was out to make credits some other way. Fortunately, the Separatists’ offer of a million per Jedi still stood. The bounty hunter figured he would be able to track one down easily enough if he stayed on the edge of a battle zone that wasn’t too dangerous.
Now the one he’d been hunting had walked right into his trap. It was almost too easy. So Bane decided he’d entertain the Jedi for a few moments longer, just to see if he’d try anything to provide some entertainment. “No need to hand over your lightsaber. Just keep it on the belt where I can see it.”
“The job is easy enough,“ Juno watched the bounty hunter carefully, keeping an eye on the hand nearest his blaster “Especially for someone of your skill. There’s something I need, being held on a GAR base, I need you to get me in.” She leaned closer, arching her back in a practiced pose, accentuating her bust.”Care to escort a lady?”
His smirk widened at that in amusement. Did she really not think she was maybe trying too hard? Adjusting the brim of his hat, Bane stood up and nodded. “Sounds simple. We’ll say double my usual rate, then.” He regarded the woman for a little moment longer. If she expected him to offer his arm, she was going to be disappointed. He only said, “Lead the way.”

Finally. It had taken long enough even just to find anyone who knew something about the band he was looking for. They certainly were elusive enough. In a way, he was thankful - the longer the Imperials had to employ him, the more of their credits he could gain in return. But at the same time, it had been starting to get tiring. Never to the point of giving up, though. Once he had a job he never gave up. And it had paid off. One of the members of the crowd ahead fit the descriptions he’d been given after posing as a common visitor to Lothal. Now all he had to do was catch him and bring him back to the complex.
Subtly signalling to the stormtrooper squad following him from far enough away so as not to attract attention, Bane quietly slipped into the shadows of an alley. The troopers continued on into the throng, as though carrying out usual Imperial business - making sure nothing illegal was going on, and searching any individuals they deemed suspicious-looking. With any luck it would draw his target out. Or at least make him nervous. Coming to a patch of ground with no one about, the Duros flicked on his rockets and made his way up to the top of a building. From there he had a good view, and would be able to move fast without the troops blocking his way. It didn’t take long to find his target again. The short ponytail was ridiculous. Kneeling, Bane settled down to wait, hand resting on one of his blasters and waiting for the opportune moment to strike.
“Oh, I wasn’t about to try and appeal to your better nature.” Juno smiled under her helmet, glad that the Duros had gotten right to the point.”I intend to pay for your loyalty, Angel Eyes.’
“Glad to hear it.” Bane smirked. He liked the sound of that, although he might just have to shoot her if she called him by that nickname again. “So what kind of price are we talking about, and for what job?”
