The Great Vegan Experiment - Early Stage.
On a whim today I decided that I wanted to try something interesting by switching to a vegan diet for awhile. For many moons I have heard the glorious health benefits of such a diet, and as I am ever attempting to more healthy-up my lifestyle, I figured this would be worth trying.
From a primary objective standpoint, the goal is to see just how much healthier I actually do feel by switching to this diet. There are a number of secondary goals, however: (1) examine the amount of work and effort that goes into eating vegan, (2) consider the change (if any) in economics of such a diet, and (3) observe the social effects of it.
The primary and first two secondary objectives will take time to plan map out specifically, but the third secondary objective was easy to launch right away. And so I did.
11/27/12 - Day 01 // Social Announcement
As I have no idea how to eat vegan (and wasn't near a computer), I decided to announce my little experiment across my three primary social platforms (Facebook, Twitter, Tumblr) and, among other things, ask for guidance. Below you will find screenshots of the responses, each a different color to designate responses from unique individuals.
Looking at the responses by social network:
Facebook: 6 individuals responded (3 helpful/supportive, 2 not, 1 some of each).
Tumblr: 8 individuals responded to the post, 4 by PM (all 12 helpful/supportive).
Twitter: 4 individuals responded (2 helpful/supportive, 2 not).
Total: 22 (17 helpful/supportive, 4 not, 1 some of both).
I will leave an analysis for later, once the experiment is done, but these initial social numbers are very interesting.
