“I can promise that only because I have active beef with the PTO. I’m avoiding Becky and the whole squad right now.”

“Wow. If I only knew before that I was in the presence of a god I would have never even suggested you having any understanding of us failing mortals.”
“I thought it’s been clear since the beginning of all of this that I was a god. That’s my mistake for not making it more clear.”
macygardner:
“Oh definitely. I kind of forced it on her and thankfully she took to it.” Macy nodded. “Me too. A mix of my parents, hanging out here, a babysitter and camps. She doesn’t seem to mind too much and she’s excited for camp.” She shrugged. It sucked, she wished she could spend the days with Felicity, but it just wasn’t realistic with no other income. “I personally can’t wait for school to start again for her sake.”
“That’s always nice when they take to the things you won’t love them if they don’t love,” Malakai joked, though kept a straight face, only a slight smile poking up the corner of his lips. “Camps are clutch,” he nodded with a smile. “What kind of camp is she in?” He nodded along. “Oh same, poor kids, we just wish them away to education.”

“No of course I can, she just gets so excited.” Macy started going through a shelf to try and help out. “We have actually. I’m sure not like the library, but still more than during the school year. How are you handling having your daughter home all day now?”
“That’s so great. Gets her love of reading from her mom I’m guessing?” Malakai smiled. “That’s great, good for you! Bringing in that bread,” he chuckled. “I’ve had her staying with a woman in the neighborhood who watches a bunch of kids. I’m not really around during the day, so it’s tough otherwise. She’s doing some camps at some point though. How about you?”

“You learn by just trying for yourself and failing. It builds so much more character that way.”
“See, I’ve personally never failed, so that’s never been my way of doing it.”
macygardner:
“Oh I wish mine was here, she could give you all of the recommendations!” Macy sighed and walked over to the kids section. “But we actually have so much right now since school just got out? I wanted to make sure it was stocked.”
“And you can’t tell me what your girl is reading?” Malakai jested with a chuckle. “Oh for real? That’s great. I’m sure I can find a few that will pique her interest. Have you had a lot of traffic through here with school out?”

“Do you always ask artists their process?”
“Yeah, I ask everyone their process. How else do you learn?”
macygardner:
Macy was cataloging a huge delivery to the book store. They had been swamped with everyone wanting summer reading so the orders coming in were bigger than they had been all year. “Just a second!” She yelled as she heard the bell ding and quickly ran from the back room. “Sorry, it’s just me today. Were you looking for something or just thought you’d stop by?”
“No, you’re good,” Malakai smiled with a little shrug. “I’m kinda just breezing the kids section, my daughter could use her book shelf livened up.”

“Thank you for saying so because I spent way too long on it to get it this way. Much longer than I care to admit.”
“How long was it actually? Be honest with me?” Malakai asked, leaning in to inspect the crown further.
marykate-darby:
“Look. This is as hot girl summer as it gets around here.”
“The flower crown is a good look, no hate coming from me,” Malakai smiled, holding back from the little laugh.

“No I don’t want my own fry that would be too much. I just want a couple so why are you being selfish?”
“Because I’ve seen this song and dance! A couple turns to a handful, turns to half my fries, turns to I get a couple.”

“And then people hold doors open for you and you cant move fast enough so you just feel like you’re in the way and bothering them. It’s a whole thing.” She managed to get the front door open with a sigh. “Thank you, you really saved me from looking like a total idiot.”
“Oh that’s a whole sort of feeling too. The sprint towards a door once you realize someone is holding it for you. It’s a fine line of when to and when not to hold it for someone,” Malakai chuckled. “No problem at all, honest. Do you need any help with the assembly?”

“I like working with my hands.” Addie explained as they finally reached her door and she worked extra hard to get it open. “Yeah I think because there are so many more doors and people so you feel like three timex the idiot.”
“I get that, yeah,” Malakai nodded with a grin, but he liked it in her. Sure she was more handy than he was too. “Oh for sure. I always think the eyes are the worst. Like you wanna try and get in the apartment as quick as possible so no one spots you, then you fuck everything up.”

“Is it really that obvious that I’m struggling?” She gave a sheepish smile, attempting to balance the boxes on top of each other as Jamie headed back to her car.
“Pathetically obvious,” Malakai teased with a flat expression, but that never lasted long, his smile coming back out. He grabbed the top box with a gentle smile. “I don’t mind helping, no worries.”
