I think I'm ready to officially re-add that both my rp blogs are multiship and, well, open to shipping. Technically I wasn't against the idea the entire time I've been back but anxiety from past shipping experiences has me feeling wary. But I'm doing better about it so... yeah. Shipping!
The best ship dynamic is actually just. "I love you and it terrifies me. I'm terrified how much I need you and how much I want you to need me. I'm terrified I'm no good for you and I'm going to hurt you and ruin you and I'm terrified of how I feel when you're around me but I can't bear to push you away completely because I'm terrified to be without you so now we're stuck in limbo and that's terrifying too. I'm terrified that if I lost you now it'd destroy me and I'm terrified that it's too late to do anything about it. I love you. And it's terrifying."
which flower represents you?
bittersweet, truth
as with the name, much of what you say is bittersweet. you don't feel a need to sugarcoat things, seeing it as far better to lay out all the facts, whatever they may be, rather than to hide things for the sake of protecting feelings. while it is good to be honest, take care you don't become cruel in your pursuit of truths.
Happy Birthday, Cataleya
When the time comes for Cataleya's birthday, they've known each other for most of a year. Things are less awkward between them. Comfortable, even. And Malcolm had been thinking hard on what to do to celebrate...
She's become an important friend to him. Few are as close to him as she is now. She deserves more than well wishes and a quick gift. But what?
In the end, he settled on taking her out somewhere after her family took her out for dinner. Coffee and desserts at a late-night cafe she'd been wanting to try. He remembered her mentioning it at some point before.
But, he has one other idea in mind.
"Luna Park?" She's smiling wide, excited. Her slice of key lime pie is forgotten for the moment. "It's been so long since I've been... I'd love to go! But are you sure you can take that day off? What about work?"
He nods. "It's fine. Already okayed it with my boss and all that."
Amusement parks aren't exactly Malcolm's thing, but even he has a few nice childhood memories there and he knows that she loves the place. After all, it was her mom who gave him with the idea one of the times he was visiting and Cataleya had been out of the room grabbing something.
"We'd be there right now but the hours for most weekday evenings suck, so Saturday seemed better," he explains, eyes lowered as he looks into his coffee. "Gives you time to figure out what you want to do there, too."
"True! I'll have to look into if any of the ride have changed..."
Regardless of how their future evening at Coney Island will go, Cataleya's excitement tells him this was a good idea. He'll have to thank Laelia later.
Bill had started his shift not too long ago, and he was getting into the rhythm of making and serving drinks as asked. It was a week night and still rather early, so there weren't a lot of people around just yet.
While he's not had any really interesting conversation partners this evening, Bill was still feeling rather content as he worked for the moment.
But then the scent of new blood caught his nose. But there was also something familiar, like they had been here before, but he hadn't talked to them.
His suspicions were confirmed when his grey gaze met with Malcolm's, and a wide friendly smile fell onto his pale face.
"Hey there, buddy," Bill said, "Ah, you know what you want, wonderful. Saves me going 'Hey, what are are you having?' for the hundredth time today."
His tone was light-hearted, indicating that he was indeed just joking around. But with that, Bill retrieved a glass and the rum, pouring that drink in first, before moving to get the coke poured in top it.
"You having a slice of lemon or some ice with that? Or both?" Bill asked once he straightened back up. The drink was flawless so far, "Most say you can't improve perfection, but tastes vary."
The bartender is familiar to Malcolm, too. He remembers seeing him last time, but he had been sitting at a table further away while his friend went to order their drinks. So, this is his first time speaking with Bill.
"I'll take it as is." He reaches for the glass once the drink is handed over.
He smiles softly after taking his first sip. Still cold enough for him from the coca-cola. And a slice or lemon, or a splash of lemon juice, can be a nice addition, but he isn't really in the mood for that flavour right now.
Setting down the rum and coke on a coaster — one must protect the bar top — Malcolm nods in approval. "Simple but still good... Thanks."
Fyodor Dostoevsky, The Brothers Karamazov
With a nod, Sterling follows Malcolm inside and decides to stand by the front counter while he waits for him to finish his morning tasks. He briefly peers at the watch on his wrist as he does so.
The moment Malcolm addresses him again with exactly what he wants to hear, his head snaps up with all the alertness of a hound that's just heard it's favorite phrase.
"Of course I do," Sterling answers almost immediately, slipping a notebook out of one of the inner pockets of his coat along with a pen. He presses the tip to the page, eyes intense and trained on Malcolm expectantly.
Well, at least the man's prepared for these situations.
"Alright..." Malcolm sets his coffee down and, closing his eyes, thinks about the roundabout conversation he had with his boss last night.
Thankfully, Robbie isn't that paranoid of a person and can be fairly nosy himself so he didn't think much about being asked questions. Clearly, his employee was just curious about a customer. Nothing suspicious here.
"It's a white guy. Late thirties. Brown, shortish hair. Blue eyes. Was dressed in a black tank top and green cargo shorts." Malcolm pauses for a moment. "I think he's Norwegian? Bit hard to place the accent."
There, he's done his part. He also still has no idea whether this person did or not commit a murder. That'll be the detective's job to figure out.

A black cat. What specific breed? Fuck if I know. Simple a Void.

Ravens. And crows, too. Black, spooky birds in the Corvus genus. XD
Fun fact: in D&D, he's associated with ravens because he's part Hexblade Warlock and Hexblades are associated with the Raven Queen (or Matron of Ravens, since the campaign I'm playing in as him is set in Exandria).

It's his day off, and Malcolm feels like going to the Falling Star Club.
He's been around once before with Harve, and while it's a club, the atmosphere of the place makes him think of a pub, which he finds enjoyable. They even have music performances from time to time.
And since he's by himself, he's taken a seat at the bar. "Hey. A rum and coke, please," he says once the bartender notices him and comes over.

He plopped down onto the old sofa, digging into a box full with sweets to grab himself a chocolate bar. "My friends Connor and Damian helped me. Took us weeks to get the stuff here and we aren't even done. Still trying to set up a tv and a radio, maybe we can get the nintendo to work here."
He motioned to some corners like he had just moved into his first apartment and was planning to buy new furniture for it. Only that this was a lost place and he was most certainly not paying rent.
"Its shitty when it rains but during summer its pretty chill. I sometimes sleep here when I cant handle my fuckass family."
"Does the roof leak or something?" he asks, glancing up at the roof.
Deciding to follow Jacks's lead when it comes to difficult topics, he'll not ask about it. But he kind of understands. There were times when he wanted to run away from home, but now he fewer reasons to do that.
Things at home are far from perfect, but they're getting better finally.
"Anyway, your friends... Where they there when we started fighting? I don't remember who was around since it's all jumbled in my brain..."
Excitement and a few blows to the head will do that, he supposes.
