when zelda melded her soul with midna’s to save her life, midna was touched greatly by the triforce of wisdom, which had a great hand in her change of heart. though she doesn’t know, she was essentially the wielder of the triforce of wisdom in zelda’s absence.

another note is that the triforce of wisdom and light essence lengthened midna’s natural lifespan considerably, due to the goddess’ indirect touch and the mingling of light and twili magic in her body.

hc  .  personality vs. body

midna is, of course, the same person in her cursed form as her true form. however, in her true form, she has a tendency to act more regally, more sophisticated, and in her cursed form she is more likely to act on her impish impulses. say you spend a day in a long dress with lots of jewelry, and the next in a pair of shorts and an oversized t-shirt  ‒  you’re likely to feel very different in those two outfits, and maybe you’ll even act differently based on how you feel. it’s like that, but in a much more extreme sense. in her true form, with her long robes and skirts and jewelry and makeup, midna feels every bit the princess / queen she is, but cursed, she is unrestrained by those things, her smaller body making her feel childish and mischievous.

‘ as harsh as it sounds, there is no time to celebrate. we lost people. no time to grieve. ‘ (hyrule warriors???? somehow??)

         —  “  oh, please  ‒  grieve  ?  ”  small twili floats idly in the air, crossing her legs and leaning back as though she’s reclining.

            “  all we did was lose a handful of nameless soldiers  !  they were all bound to bite it sooner or later, they were weak  !  seriously, you humans have really flimsy armies. you’re lucky i’m here  !  besides, if those weaklings go instead of someone important  ‒  like me, for example, or brave mister hero, then i’m satisfied.

            “  i mean, i’m with you on the celebration thing, though. we need to move  !  ”

‘ you know, you live in someone else’s head for so long… the hardest part to deal with is the silence. ‘

            —  “  oh, yeah  ?  ”  her first instinct is to respond with snark  ‒  just as is usual. vulnerability has never been what one would call a strong suit of her’s.  “  you finally realized your own head is full of boring nonsense, then, huh  ?  ”

            but she should be more grateful, she knows. zelda is the only reason she still lives, having given everything for one selfish twili. midna can stand now under the sun, existing as more than an intangible shadow for the pure light essence that has touched her. there had been two hearts beating in one chest then, two souls laying side by side in one body, daylight and twilight warring no more.

            “  ha, sorry, i think i know what you mean, actually. it’s a little more lonely in here than before.  ”
