i’ve always seen this dumb post circulating around the desc fandom tag --- where it compares ben’s “it’s hard being what i’m not” line from chillin’ like a villain to his fight with mal during their lunch --- and i don’t know how else to say that the two are not the same at all ??????? mal chose to go blonde and change her attire --- it’s shown specifically in the books that she goes to evie and asks for her help. ben needed to act like a vk on the ISLE so he wouldn’t die and get caught ???? the worst that could happen to mal in auradon if she didn’t dress and act differently was get judged, and let’s face it --- that’s nothing new. mal’s change is completely of her own volition. it’s her own form of survival, to fit in and feel like she could be a different person and live with it. but it’s nothing compared to the risks ben took in traveling to the isle and going undercover, pretending to be someone else for the sake of NOT DYING.

they’re not the same. stop comparing them.
