八十 At this point in their friendship… Takeshi expects this sort of reaction from the Skylark, the hesitant confirmation, the lack of interest in this day… Really, he knew deep down the gesture was appreciated though, the words as well. That’s all that really mattered, that and showing the older male a good time was what Takeshi wanted most. He’s sure he can at least accomplish that much for Hibari’s birthday… Try his best to. “Maa… Hibari should enjoy himself for today. It doesn’t have to be anything big, haha.” Obviously a crowd would ruin things for him, so keeping the invites to a minimum was best. Maybe even just the two of them, if that’s how the other preferred it. Takeshi certainly wouldn’t mind. “Come on. We can go into town, visit Namimori Middle for old time’s sake… I can make us dinner too.” Its something he considered doing for him, that and the little present he’d bought as well. Simple gestures. Now to see if the other would consider them… maybe even agree to the evening together.

The former prefect furrows his brow in contemplation at the other’s suggestion. While he isn’t too keen on making such a fuss over his birthday, he is far from opposed to seeing his old school. It has been too long for the Cloud guardian’s liking since he had last seen the facility. That place brought back mainly pleasant memories for the older male. They were simpler times back then... “If you insist...” Hibari states at last with a quiet sigh, having made his decision on the matter. The pros outweigh the cons from his perspective, but that didn’t mean he is at complete ease with the idea. He never liked being the focal point of another’s thoughts. “However, if the other crowding herbivores become involved, I won’t hesitate to bite them along with you to death.” Even though that threat is ever present when he is involved, the Skylark felt it needed to be made clear. He knows all too well how enthusiastic the other members of the Vongola are when it comes to birthdays or anything warranting a celebration in their eyes.

"Yo Hibari~ It's your birthday today, right?" Takeshi asks this... but has no doubts really. "Should we go out to celebrate?" He holds out a small gift to the older male then, smile soft as their gazes meet. He didn't seem to have plans as of yet...

The Skylark folds his arms across his chest as he looks from the gift to the swordsman holding it. “It is…” He mutters under his breath while taking the small present from the other’s hand reluctantly, looking it over with a critical eye. His birthday was not something he paid much attention to and wished others would do the same, but he had yet to be so lucky with that.

“Perhaps… Though celebration is rather unnecessary.” Hibari glances back to Yamamoto as he sets the gift aside, not bothering to open it quite yet. He would save doing that until later while in privacy.

Hibari knew he had taken it too far when heard a muffled yelp from the other which was soon accompanied with the tang of blood on his tongue. While the taste wasn’t wholly unpleasant to the carnivore, it didn’t stop him from scrunching up his face in disgust as he pulled back from the kiss even though he was the one at fault.

Once the initial aversion passed, he pressed another kiss to Yamamoto’s lips. A silent gesture of apology to the younger male for having harmed him inadvertently.

Hibari Kyouya’s development in the Future Arc takes place in an inverted manner, because he is one of the guardians whose ten-year-early forms arrives late. It is apparent from both his role in the latter half of the arc and as a 26-year-old Mafioso that he thoroughly fulfills his role as Cloud Guardian. He protects his family using an independent, detached stance, and manages to preserve his own path in life without feeling tied down. It is also evident that he becomes a vital member of Tsuna’s family, even if he himself would never admit it. Happy birthday to our favorite Cloud Guardian! | 5.05
