tomona would most certainly be hated and loved amongst the danganronpa community if she were an actual character which is true and i intentionally created her that way.
she is meant to be an irritable character, a character that ticks u off even when she rebuttals, she likes to correct people but obviously not all the time.
especially when she doesnt like the popular characters in sdr2 such as nagito, kazuichi and gundham, specifically gundham. she doesnt hate them she just dislikes them, she will only hate on them if they committed a selfish act or heinous crimes because thats the main point of tomona. she will only pick on gundham and mock him only because shes projecting her flaws onto him. the two almost share a similar lifestyle but tomona heavily dislikes his whole personality and that causes him to be picked on himself.
she hangs out with the disliked characters in the franchise such as mahiru and hiyoko, i feel like once the two died i feel like people will like tomona after because her development would flesh out more even in free time events. mahiru and hiyoko treat her like a normal human being but tomona would like to see herself as an authoriative figure, without that personality she would feel rather empty and has no purpose. even though theyre friends, tomona is scared to speak up about the behaviour between the two, tomona just goes along with the flow or just enables hiyokos behaviour in fear of rejection. what i find saddening is that hiyoko wanted tomona to protect her, tomona promised her that during the events of chapter 3. tomona couldnt sleep the past following days so it was expected of her to be in a deep sleep on the last day. hiyoko knocked on her motel door but tomona was asleep, tomona would have done hiyokos kimono. after that, hiyoko died from mikan.
(i feel like people would accuse her for not being there for hiyoko but im uncertain if i want to add that)
i also feel like she would become more liked once people interact in her FTEs, yes she does mock hajime but she is only doing that because she is comfortable with him, tomona barely has any friends even since childhood as she would always move from area to area and mahiru and hiyoko died quite early so she never fully experienced a proper friendship.
overall tomona is an all bark no bite person, though her words can bite people. from her tone and poor word choices, it isnt easy to comprehend whether she is being mean, sarcastic, nice or just joking.
may i also say she is implied to be autistic and has ptsd? i feel like my writing is horrible but idk
