And about the AI opt-out setting Tumblr will deploy tomorrow, I’ll just let you with the words of the person in charge of the heist:

Andrew Spittle, Automattic’s head of AI replied: “We will notify existing partners on a regular basis about anyone who’s opted out since the last time we provided a list. […] I believe partners will honor this based on our conversations with them to this point.”

So Tumblr will notify openAi and Midjourney that you wish your posts to not be used and it’s entirely up to them to comply or not. And as we know, we are talking about some of the less ethical companies on the internet (which honestly is kind of a feat), so that cute little setting will most than probably do nothing and less.

Given the news that Tumblr is selling our blogs off to Midjourney and the likes and won't do anything to ensure opt-out is honored, I will not post anything here anymore.

It is sad but what can you do, right?

When drawing faces there are certain things that excite me. I love drawing heads in different angles - in this case I love how the eyebrow works or nostrils from that perspective. The way they bend and such things. Or lips and the chin.

Quite a few months ago this year I sat down and wrote down a chronological account of what happens in the story - up to a certain point which is blocked by a lore question I need to solve.

I did not write everything in great detail. Rather high-level summarizing sentences what the characters do, feel, say. It felt quite good and helped come up with some ideas and twists.

Yesterday, I reread parts of it again. Maybe it will help with brainstorming. In any case, it was exciting to read about these dorks so I sketched them again.

Misericordia

Back in the day, I used to be much more talkative about my original characters and stories. At some point in the past, I stopped doing that for some reason.

These two are the main characters of a story I have been dragging around for over ten years by now. The story - called Misericordia - really changed a lot in that time. Partly because I grew older but also due to plot holes getting in the way so I had to move around them. There is still one big roadblock in the way - I feel like if that were dealt with things would fall into place finally. *bites into granite*

But until then, I will share sketches of Gemma and Caspar and I hope people enjoy them! They are dear to me and I feel that excitement when I think/write about or draw them.

I found the old sketchbook where the above sketches are in again and have been drawing in it for a few months. When I realized it haa been 10 years I wanted to redraw the Gemma sketch.

I did not understand chins or faces at all. Neither noses or eyes lol.
