STUCK REPOSTING WHILE THE WORLD BURNS?
I feel like a lot of times, when we see the injustices in the world, we immediately want to do something about it; from raising our voices on social media, to donating, to learning and educating ourselves on such topics, the need we have to help one another is so great that we feel it in our bones.
But at times, it can be overwhelming, especially when you're learning about things for the first time, theres an influx of information hitting you all at once, that you don't even know when to start. I saw this on insta a few days ago and was genuinely surprised that they had referenced a lot of the organizations i was familiar with
So I decided to post it here in hopes that it helps you in your journey towards advocacy and what it can mean to you as well as social equity.
and the thing is that no one organization is 1000% right, there are multiple ways to show up for your community outside of social media. what I've learned though, is that integrity doesn't meant perfection, it means accountability and the constant need to improve so that we may all grow and learn together.
sharing resources, is to me, the best way that I can utilize my voice to bring awareness and to help create a better world for each other.
Community gardens - We bring together people, resources, and education to benefit lives and neighborhoods through community gardening
Food not bombs - free meals - When a billion people go hungry each day, how can we spend another dollar on war? Food Not Bombs is an all-volunteer movement that recovers food that would otherwise be discarded, and shares with the hungry in over 1,000 cities in 65 countries in protest to war, poverty, and destruction of the environment.
Community Fridges - We promote equal access to healthy food through the installation of community fridges (public refrigerators) that are used to share food and ideas at the neighborhood level.
Seed Libraries - A robust seed library in every community that is accessible to all and that honors the wisdom of the seeds and their keepers.
Community Land Trusts: Grounded Solutions Network seeks a future where everyone has access to a home they can afford in economically and racially diverse communities of opportunity that foster better health, academic, and economic outcomes.
Land Back Movements: It is acknowledging that only when Mother Earth is well, can we, her children, be well. It is our belonging to the land – because – we are the land. (I fuck with this organization, heavy)
Tenants Unions: Tenants Together is a statewide coalition of local tenant organizations dedicated to defending and advancing the rights of California tenants to safe, decent, and affordable housing
Famers Land Trust: The Farmers Land Trust works nationally to transact farmland (real estate, fundraising, legal) into community ownership through the Farmland Commons, which are local land holding nonprofit entities that then give 99-year, secure, affordable, and equitable lease tenure to next generation farmers using chemical free, regenerative agriculture.
Intentional Living Communities: As a movement, intentional communities have unfulfilled potential to support the wellbeing of the people who live in them - Support each other - Support the shift the world needs towards cooperation, justice, and resilience. People need community. Communities need people.
Ecovillage Network: The Global Ecovillage Network envisions a world of empowered citizens and communities, designing and implementing their own pathways to a sustainable future, and building bridges of hope and international solidarity. (An ecovillage is an intentional, traditional or urban community that is consciously designed through locally owned, participatory processes in all four dimensions of sustainability (social, culture, ecology and economy) to regenerate their social and natural environments).
Mutual Aid Networks: We do not directly organize or coordinate any individual mutual aid effort. We do our best to curate and filter groups doing relevant, valuable work in their communities, but we cannot verify or vouch for any network or individual offerings. Please exercise all necessary judgement when interacting with community members not previously known to you.
Worker Cooperatives: We represent the estimated 1,300 worker co-ops in the U.S. and their 15,000 workers. We organize through local cooperative networks while building power with national and international partners to advance an agenda for economic justice rooted in community-based, shared ownership.
New Economy Coalition: NEC exists to support a just transition from an extractive to a regenerative economy by building the scale and power of the solidarity economy movement in Black, Indigenous, and working class communities in every region of the United States.

Repair Cafes: Repair Cafés are free meeting places and they’re all about repairing things (together). In the place where a Repair Café is located, you’ll find tools and materials to help you make any repairs you need. On clothes, furniture, electrical appliances, bicycles, crockery, appliances, toys, et cetera. You’ll also find expert volunteers, with repair skills in all kinds of fields.
Buy Nothing Groups: Buy Nothing communities are already a global reuse economy with immense social and environmental impact. Our future development will also empower each of us to keep even more items in use, while we build strong communities and sustainable livelihoods for the makers, fixers, and others who transform old into new, over and over again.
HOW COMMUNITIES SHIFT: MEDIA
Transition Towns: In practice, Transition groups create renewable energy projects, support local food production, encourage new businesses, bring nature back into cities, and build strong connections between people and organisations.
