Happy St. Patrick’s Day. Stay safe. Drink wisely. Have fun.
A petition for a writ of mandamus seeking to nullify the results of the 2016 U.S. Presidential election sits on the SCOTUS docket. To be heard today.
This is scheduled to be heard by the Supreme Court today. March 17, 2017. The main argument for the writ is that, per Article IV § 4 of the U.S. Constitution, it is the job of the federal government to keep U.S. territory safe from foreign invasion. The Constitution stipulates, “The United States shall guarantee to every State in this Union a Republican Form of Government, and shall protect each of them against Invasion.”
The petition cites evidence of such an invasion, namely the Russian hacking, and asks that the entire 2016 election be nullified, all the way back to the primaries, on the grounds that cyber-territory in the U.S. was invaded with the intention of altering the results of our Presidential election.
The petitioners seek an entirely new election. - This would also give the Republicans the opportunity to present a better representative for the party. It benefits everyone.

This is really amazing
And now for something cute!
Newton has joined Boston, Cambridge, Somerville, and Lawrence in offering undocumented immigrants theoretical protection from federal authorities. Acton and Salem are considering similar measures.
Santa Clara County asked a federal judge Thursday to block President Trump ’s executive order threatening the loss of federal funds to local governments that do not assist immigration authorities.
I am somewhat hopeful that our nation will become supported against Trump!
Protest Dance Celebration for Trans Youth @ White House
The New York Times, the Los Angeles Times, and Politico were also excluded.
Control the media, control the people.
The White House blocked a number of news organizations from attending an informal briefing Friday. At the press briefing the news outlets were informed that instead of the usual Q and A there would be an informal briefing, known as a "gaggle" in Spicer's office.
White House press secretary Sean Spicer banned reporters from a number of media outlets including BuzzFeed News, CNN, The Los Angeles Times, Politico, the BBC, The Huffington PostCNN, and the New York Times. Reporters from these media outlets were informed that they were not "on the list" to be admitted to the "gaggle".
Among those outlets permitted to attend were: Breitbart News, the One America News Network and The Washington Times, all with conservative leanings. Journalists from ABC, CBS, The Wall Street Journal, Bloomberg and Fox News also attended.
"Reporters from The Associated Press and Time magazine, who were set to be allowed in, chose not to attend the briefing in protest of the White House’s actions."

They sent a message by blasting Beyoncé outside the White House.
“ On Friday evening, just outside of the White House fence, activists gathered to celebrate trans youth by dancing to Beyoncé and Michael Jackson, as about half a dozen uniformed police officers looked on from the sidelines. Some demonstrators carried signs or wore rainbow suspenders — one person was draped in a trans pride flag bearing the words "I will not censor myself to comfort your ignorance."

Can you leave the house without your ID? It seems like a silly question to most, but with some shifts in state immigration laws, it has become a serious question. In a perfect world, you wouldn't need to carry your...
Passengers on a domestic flight from San Francisco to New York received an unusual greeting when they landed at JFK Airport Wednesday night: two Customs and Border Protection agents waiting on the jet bridge to check IDs as people exited the aircraft. VICE News staffer Anne Garrett was on the…
btw, this isn't actually legal. While there are states that have "Stop and identify" statutes there is no law that requires anyone to show an actual ID. This has been address by the supreme court. It is illegal for the police to require someone to provide anything other than your name and even that requires reasonable suspicion that a crime has been committed.
HRC and Equality Virginia blasted the Virginia House of Representative’s final vote of 54 to 38 passing House Bill (HB) 2025 -- discriminatory legislation seeking to give taxpayer-funded agencies and service providers a license to discriminate against LGBTQ people under the guise of religion. The dangerous anti-LGBTQ proposal now heads to Governor Terry McAuliffe, who has promised to veto the bill.
If it passes we need to publicly boycott the state and all its business and products.. money talks.
HB 2025 could allow taxpayer-funded organizations, like homeless shelters and adoption agencies, to refuse service to same-sex couples, transgender people, and anyone suspected of having intimate relationships outside of a heterosexual marriage (such as single mothers or a cohabiting straight couple) without losing taxpayer funding, contracts, licensing, or other forms of state recognition.
UNIVERSITY CITY, MO (KTVI) – Investigators with the University City Police Department are working to determine who knocked over or damaged dozens of headstones at a local Jewish cemetery over the weekend. Police would not say if they considered the vandalism at Chesed Shel Emeth Cemetery to be a hate crime.
This is terrible! antisemitism, discrimination, hatred of any kind, must stop.
SIGN ON: Demand that Trump's Department of Justice protect transgender students!
Yesterday, the Trump Administration confirmed it will likely rescind the guidance issued by President Obama that protects transgender students nationwide and their right to use the restroom that corresponds to their gender identity.
We must take a stand and demand that the Trump administration protect transgender students after the Justice Department has announced they would no longer defend the Obama guidelines from challenges in court, but it’s more critical than ever you take action: This is an attack on our community’s most vulnerable members -- transgender children -- and we must take immediate action. Sign the Petition. Call the Department of Justice at 202-514-2000 and the Department of Education at 800-872-5327to let Jeff Sessions and Betsy DeVos know that millions of Americans support President Obama’s protections for transgender youth.
