Everyday Dylan had become more concerned with Hannah, seeing as it was the only thing on his mind beside with the quarantine hitting everything all at once. But to say he didn’t enjoy any extra time to be spent with Hannah alone would be an understatement. Taking care of her the only way he knew how was his single contribution to the grand scheme of all she was sacrificing to bring their baby into the world. Dylan had never believed in love at first sight, not until he’d met Hannah face to face on Mexico beach, it being the only second their eyes met that he made a decision that he was going to marry that girl, someway some how. Their engagement wasn’t anything traditional, with every camera angle catching their every move and the distant waves of the beach crashing onto the shore it left little to no room for error. Dylan hadn’t expected the way to propose to her being caught with a few other thousand onlookers to be apart of it, but it was the way it was in the name of the game. They had gone from barely knowing each other to engaged to dating, now expecting a baby and making everything move backwards in the “normal” standard of it all. Finishing up his shower, Dylan wrapped a towel around his middle, shaking his wet hair before brushing through it and getting changed. Once he was finished he opened the door, finding a tiny note taped to the back of the bathroom door. A small smile came on his lips as he obliged and followed himself into the couple’s bedroom, his mouth immediately gaped open seeing Hannah along with an amount of candles that he couldn’t even fathom were placed around every open corner of the room. “Baby, what are you doing?” He choked out, meeting her gaze with shock apparent on his face as he dodged each candle to meet in the middle where she kneeled.
Each passing second felt more elongated than the last as Hannah waited for Dylan to walk through the door. Maybe it was too risky, maybe he would think she was insane, but in the times like this one, it was all Hannah could do to return the favour with what limited time and resources were at her disposal. Each second her heart pounded at a throttling rate, her palms covered in sweat from the anticipation of what he was going to think. When he finally walked through the door, it was an immediate switch, her smile curled at her lips, her hands laid gently on her thighs as she was quickly reminded in flashbacks of all their moments they shared together, the inconceivable thought of it bringing a brigade of tears to surface on her face without saying a word. “Come here, dingus, I have something very important to show you.” Beside the bedside table there laid a lighter, as if at the ready to light the house up. Gingerly bringing herself back to her feet, she grabbed the blue lighter and began with a heavy inhale. “I remember when we had our first kiss, I had a sinus infection and you asked me if it was contagious and you grabbed my face and full on kissed the life out of me like you didn’t care if you would catch it even if it wasn’t contagious. I was so caught off guard that I didn’t realize what just happened but I knew I had wanted to kiss you again, because you knocked the breath out of me and then laughed and said ‘I think you’re safe’.” Lighting the first candle in the walk way, she took one step forward, at the ready to light another one up. “When we had our first one on one date and I told you I had my heart broken that I never thought I could find someone who would love me for me and you took my hand and we danced to ‘Kiss Me by Sixpence and you held me in your arms for what felt like seconds after that when it was really three hours. We talked forever and that was when I knew I was falling in love with you.” Again she lit the closest candle, taking one more step toward her fiance, until she stood face to face to him, ring still clutched in her opposing hand. Kneeling in front of him at his feet, Hannah closed her eyes, tears now trickling down her face, a stream still on her cheek as the tears plummeted to the floor. “You make me happier than I ever thought I would be. I’ve imagined my life with you, and I can never see my future going without you being with me. In all my life I never thought I’d be falling in love with my best friend. Dylan, you proposed to me in a unique and special way that I’ll never forget it. But I think it might be better to level the playing field and show you just how much I need you in my life for now and forever. I want to grow old with you and raise our small family together and I want everything that comes our way. Dylan Barbour, will you marry me?”
