Ronnie Lee whips around and sizes up Patrick in five seconds flat. “Do I know you?” 

“I’m Patrick Brewer… I’m staying with…” 

“You’re Ray’s boarder.” Ronnie nods, crossing her arms. 

“That’s correct.  I’m…I’m going to put in a bid for Moira’s garden.” 

Ronnie laughs. “Are you now? Okay kid.  May the best bid win.” Ronnie offers her hand, and to Patrick it feels like a bit of a victory.
