‪243 of 365: Dedicated to story artist Tom Owens! He also directed the impressive and incredibly touching ‘Gift of the Night Fury’ short. My favorite short that made me fall in love with the characters even more after seeing httyd than I thought possible. The concept of Toothless turning down the gift of solo-flight because he wouldn’t want to fly or be anywhere Hiccup wasn’t was such a strong message and was handled in such a beautiful way for a short film. Also, when I was first exploring animation and its process I had been drawn to Owen’s storyboard style. I even remember looking at his boards and trying to draw like him, haha. He made it look so easy and I just knew I wanted to be able to do that too someday.. Thank you Tom!‬
