To say it’s daunting entering the party deck of Avengers’ tower is an understatement. The room is crowded with people, none of whom you recognize and there are definitely people there who you are more than a little nervous to meet.

Maria Hill has brought you, you’ve been her liaison with the local government, and while it had been slow forming, you had eventually become friends. Her intelligence is admirable and there is a way about her - layers that you have to uncover, and each one protected by a thick layer of sarcasm.

She had suggested that there might be work in the Tower, and if not, that she thought the Avengers would love you. So you’ve dressed up and met her in the lobby. Now you’re here, you are not sure what you’d been thinking.

“Relax,” Hill says, rubbing your shoulder. “Trust me, if I like you, they’ll like you.”

She leads you into the room further and looks around.

You recognize so many people. Famous people. People who have saved the world hundreds of times over. Superheroes and war heroes. Royalty and gods. Captain America is playing eight-ball with Falcon and the Winter Soldier and Agent Thirteen. Tony Stark is at the bar making cocktails for Pepper Potts and Colonel James Rhodes. The Black Widow is being beaten at darts by Hawkeye. Doctor Bruce Banner is talking animatedly on the couch with Thor and Captain Carol Danvers. T’Challa, the king of Wakanda, is selecting music with one of his Dora Milaje. Wanda Maximoff is with her brother Pietro, Vision the synthezoid, and Monica Rambeau by the window. Over by the food was the head of Pym Tech, Hope Van Dyne, also known as the Wasp, with Ant-Man.

“Alright,” Hill says when she gets her bearings. “I’m going to go play darts. Go make friends.”
