Hey kids, you need to start worrying a little less about getting “#mogged” and a little more about getting “#smogged”. This is an Air Quality Index public service announcement.

hey! are sad clowns their own breed, or are they just a subset of normal clowns? are they healthy and okay to keep? ive been thinking about buying one, but i dont want to support clown-mills that breed unethical breeds of clowns you know
There’s a few different breeds of “sad clown”, some more closely related to the more traditional breeds than others. They do make good pets, but some more exotic breeds such as the PierrotBlanc have very specific needs that simply won’t be met by normal clown care standards as their temprements are more ‘serious’ and sometimes veer towards those of mimes.
If you think you’re ready for a first “sad” clown then I’d recommend a Hobo breed as they tend to be pretty satisfied with your typical clown props and enclosures, and are much tamer than their European counterparts.
Clown mills are no joke.
stranger: (crouches down to pat my clown) wow what breed are they?
me: 1930s traveling hobo crossed with a 1980s washed up carnie - we think there might be some french mime in there on the hobo side

here's a secret: whatever you're doing, you have to root for your peers with all your heart because it forces you to root for yourself too. I've seen people in various spheres of my life (workplaces, education, art, activism) fall into the trap of envy and resentment when they see others succeed while they struggle, and it always always goes hand in hand with them pulling back and giving up and stagnating.
when you let yourself get sour grapes about shit, you tacitly give up on yourself. when you sit around hoping other people will flop and fail so you can catch up to them, you stop trying. it's a fantasy of mediocrity, the vain wish that other people would walk so you could take the gold medal at a jog. wouldn't you rather come last place at 27mph?
