idk how to talk to ppl so im just send an ask and say i love seeing ur digimon posting and ESPECIALLY the digimon frontier enthusiasm… my favorite most beloved digimon season. the blorbo of digimon seasons. i need to talk to people about it more who actually know it instead of hearing me infodump ;w;
also REINA AND RAITO FAN !!!!! those guys are so good. too super good awesome… i would be enthused to hear your fav bits about them…
YES WOWOWOWOWOW THANK YOU HI YES ABSOLUTELY the world needs more Frontier discussion in it! Preferably from people who actually watched and like the show, that'd be!! really great!! I am always down to talk about Frontier if you wanna talk about Frontier HI waving my hands I would LOVE to talk about Frontier actually.
(I'm also really sick right now and somehow I read Raito and thought "oh! Tomoro!" And was prepared to info dump about how much I love Tomoro and I just think that's the funniest, most canon adhering thing ever)
I loved Reina from the get-go, but I think the moment that really sold me was her throwing herself into battle at the confrontation with Naito in the underground fighting ring. That moment was indescribable. That entire Arc was indescribable. And yeah that moment might have sold me, but it's also such a small percentage of why I love her because Reina is so much more than just her moments of action.
What stands out to me is the small bits of dialogue she has. Her worrying over money, her nearly breaking down over not having the situation under control when she's flung into that snowy wasteland with Granit, her dumbass thinking that silver would harm a vampire (and same I dont know anything about vampire lore, but the thought that she probably miss-remembered an info dump from Makoto is really sweet), her relationship with her little brothers IN GENERAL
I love her. That scene where she bullies Tomoro in the pool lives in my head rent free.
Raito is a bit trickier to pinpoint as to why I love his character so much because most of his huge moments also involve Tomoro. Which isn't a bad thing, it just makes discussing him specifically really difficult. There's also just, so much nuance and depth behind who he is, what he's become, who he wants to be now.. All centered beautifully around his relationship to Tomoro and their shared adoration of each other, that pinning down even one thing that I like about him is pretty difficult. Actually that's a lie- I love that he's an asshole. I hope he doesn't stop being an asshole LMFAO
I could write an entire essay on the nuance of his growth in relation to shonen tropes and I think that's mainly why I like him so much. His complexity is captivating. I hope this week's episode does him justice. My chud son.
My favorite moments are definitely him "subtlety" trying to get a rise out of Tomoro whenever they confront each other and him wincing at what he thinks is Haruomi betraying Commandramon. There was a lot of cool foreshadowing done here to show that Raito should be examined at more than just face value.
Then there's Tomoro near-immediately clocking Raito for all that he's worth and acknowledging him in a way that's so anti-climatic... it's climactic. That was hilarious and I'm glad the writers didn't try to drag out their rivalry after it served its purpose. It's genuinely so well handled.
And that full circle moment where Raito rescues Tomoro from his emotions-that was insane. There's like twelve thesis statements in that alone. Like an hour long video essay right there. I'm gonna cut myself off from talking about Raito before I go down a rabbit hole.
I'd also be so happy to hear your thoughts on Reina or Raito or Beatbreak or Frontier I think that'd be really really cool.. thank you for the ask I love gushing about Digimon..
