One of the many things Tessa loved about her wife was just how affectionate she was. After a long day at work, being held and kissed is exactly what the woman needed. “I missed you too, babe. I’m glad I got to sneak away a little earlier than usual. I mean, I’ll have a lot of paperwork to do tomorrow but it’s worth it to get to spend the evening with you — that and getting to see the boys before they’re asleep, of course.” She hummed, squeezing Amanda’s hand as she was lead to the kitchen. “I wanted to wake you but you looked so peaceful I just couldn’t do it.” She quipped. “You really are the love of my life, you know that? How did I get so lucky?” She asked stealing a kiss before she sat atop of the stool. “How were they today? I missed them. I need to like — take a day a Friday off soon so all four of us can have a long weekend together.” She hummed, already thinking about when she’d be able to fit that into her work schedule. Sighing, Tessa bit down on her bottom lip. “Not great. God— we knew this guy was guilty. I told them we shouldn’t take it to trial just yet because of insufficient evidence but they forced my hand and we didn’t get him… and because the judicial system in this country is bust, we’ll never be able to try him again.”
Mandy had her wife in mind when she decided to be a stay-at-home mom. There was so much stress and pain that came with Tessa’s job that being exhausted from her own and being unable to comfort her love at the end of a long day was just not an option. Rolling her eyes at her wife’s flattery, Amanda flushed, lips pressing to Tessa’s cheek as she smiled. “ And you’re mine. Obviously Fate wanted to give you something good back for all the good you do.” She chuckled be, moving off the stool to get Tessa a glass of wine. “They were great -- had a play date, got hyper on sugar when we went for ice cream and passed out in the middle of the day so that of course they’d be up all night.” She joked as she poured a glass. “Can you? I would honestly love that -- there’s a toy fair thing in the city this weekend that I would love to take them to.” She noted as she slid Tessa the wine glass. Happy conversation turned dark quickly when Mandy learned about the loss case. A muttered “ Oh my God...” came from her lips as she felt her heart sank. Her wife was brilliant in her field, but sometimes the bad guy won, and that meant that someone had to suffer. “ Wh-how? Did someone tamper with the evidence? You worked your ass off and I swear you had him! Why can’t you re-appeal to the judge?” She questioned, almost as outraged as she’s sure her wife was when she first heard.
