Black women, in this game of thrones you are the Mother of Lions.
"Eternal life" by Mandycka A tribute to black men. I dedicate this one to my father who passed away 10 mths ago. As I was creating this piece I was able to reflect upon some fond memories of him. I embraced all my gratitude. How fortunate I was to have this man in my life. He always taught me to take pride in myself, in my skin, and culture. He taught me how eternal life is...How connected we all are.. I felt so much joy in creating a piece that reflects this. R.I.P Daddy 😍 more than words could say!

“Galaxy Girl”
I used the beautiful eyes of Diana Ross as reference for this piece
Galaxy Girl embodies the undeniable fact that we are all powerful creators. That we are connected to everything from the earth to the stars. That true strength lies within our soul.
As a black woman, I also see this illustration as a reflection of recognizing our magic, the power in our “roots”. There has been a lot of controversy over black natural hair. We are moving away from a time when we were taught to look upon our kinky curls as an unsightly attribute. Many of us are now embracing natural hair and finding it uplifting! In this illustration the Afro is the nights sky symbolizing its magic. How it defies gravity, growing up and reaching for the stars.

I hope that in this year to come, you make mistakes. Because if you are making mistakes, then you are making new things, trying new things, learning, living, pushing yourself, changing yourself, changing your world. You’re doing things you’ve never done before, and more importantly, you’re Doing Something. So that’s my wish for you, and all of us, and my wish for myself. Make New Mistakes. Make glorious, amazing mistakes. Make mistakes nobody’s ever made before. Don’t freeze, don’t stop, don’t worry that it isn’t good enough, or it isn’t perfect, whatever it is: art, or love, or work or family or life. Whatever it is you’re scared of doing, Do it. Make your mistakes, next year and forever.

Hi, Mandy: how come you did not post the Garden Design on your own blog. It is very sharp and up-lifting! I found out we can post our work in our own Tumblr blog first, and re-blog it to Cat's group blog, that way, you'll have more exposure. Your Illustrator works are very very good!
Hey there,
thank you for the kind words, and tips! Your work is great too!!
Sorry for the late response still learning Tumblr and didn't read your message til now.
Happy Holidays!
