Rey was one thesis away from earning her Master’s in Cultural Anthropology. She’d traveled the world and experienced every culture one could possibly think of. She’d witnessed atrocities. She’d witnessed the purest acts of humanity. Even at such a young age, she couldn’t imagine what more there was for her to experience… that was until Professor Solo sent her to write an ethnography in Boone County, West Virginia.
Clyde left the United States Army as a broken man, physically and mentally. The transition back to civilian life was excruciating. Some days, the only thing that kept him goin’ was the memory of the mysterious, fiery girl he met in amongst the sands of Iraq. He never believed he would see his girl again… that was until she walked right into his bar.

Rey felt her heart thud as she sat on her honeymoon bed. The suite was one of the best in Naboo and costs the Force only knows how many credits. Ben had paid the bill without so much as looking at it.
This is my honeymoon. For the wedding I never thought I’d have. If that doesn’t prompt a splashing out, I don’t know what does.
He paid for everything – he even paid for her dress. He gave his details to her before she went shopping and instructed her to get whatever she wanted.
Her dress was comparatively cheap to the other more frilly Naboo designs on display but she loved it. It made her feel like the Princess she was elevating herself to be.
(Well, he was technically a Prince.)
The ceremony itself had been private and held at night in the gardens of Naboo. It was apparently where Ben’s grandparents wed in secret. Beneath the stars, Ben had promised to love her until his end and Rey had felt like nothing else mattered.
Now she waited for her husband to emerge from the fresher.
Rey caught a look at herself in the wardrobe mirror – her face was decorated with gentle make-up and her hair was done up in an intricate braid. She contemplated maybe undoing her hair for him when Ben came into the room.
He looked so handsome in his black and grey robes – the fact that he looked at Rey like she was an angel made her skin pimple.
“How are you, Wife?”
Wife. She was Ben’s wife. And he was her husband. Force that was strange.
“Lonely. Come and keep me company.” Ben smiled and came to the bed. Rey reached up her hands to start to undo her hair but Ben gently caught her wrists.
“No, no.” Ben shook his head. “It’s the husband’s duty to undo his bride’s braids.”
Rey blinked. She hadn’t heard that before. “Really?”
“Didn’t you wonder why the hairdresser put your hair up like that?”
“Well, no. I just thought it was meant to look pretty.”
“It is pretty. But there’s more to it than that – its an Alderaan wedding braid.”
“Alderaan?” Rey blinked. “Then…”
“I had to honour her somehow.” Ben looked down as though caught in a memory. Leia’s death was something he would never really be at peace with; he never got the opportunity to say sorry and goodbye.
Rey dropped her hands and smiled. “Okay… go ahead then.”
For a tradition that Rey had never heard of, it was amazing how intimate it was. Rey had goose pimples all over as Ben’s fingers undid her hair one strand at a time, pausing occasionally to kiss her neck or whisper how beautiful she was. Every piece of hair that fell onto her shoulders was like a confirmation.
He was here. He wasn’t going anywhere. He loved her.
Eventually Rey’s hair was completely undone. And she felt as naked as though she’d just show her bare breasts to him for the first time. Ben turned her head and ran his fingers through her hair.
“Beautiful. My beautiful wife.”
Ben doing braiding (and unbraiding!) is my favorite thing ever. This was beautiful!

Hi! I’m so sorry to hear you were having an anxious night. Believe me, I sympathize. I take the generic of Zoloft to help with my anxiety. But I know that’s not for everyone. If reading my update helped you in some way, I am glad.
I know of a bunch of reylo fictions, but I always want to be careful when giving recommendations because I’m not sure what type of genre you are looking for. Cannonverse or AU? How long on the chapters? Do you want something that is more along the vein of erotica or a suspense story like The Hypnotist? Does it bother you if Rey and Ben do not have a happy ending? I read all different types, so I can give recommendations for whatever you are in the mood for. I need a little more information though.
If you like the style of my writing, I have another story I did, but I don’t know if it’s what you’re looking for. Dark Angel was the first fiction I did and is in the vein of Gothic Romance, so completely different tone. Also, you have to sort of be a Phantom of the Opera fan to appreciate it. I wrote it after The Force Awakens and I had Kylo kidnap Rey from Ahchto and take her to the cave on Dagobah. Basically I tried to make Kylo as much like the Phantom as I could, including playing violin and having musical scores.
It’s more brooding and doesn’t start to lighten up until the end. When I started writing it, I just thought Gothic shouldn’t have a lot of humor.I reversed that decision towards the end. Bottom line, I think that one is more geared for people who loved the musical and/or the book.

Son of Darkness by blueenvelopes935 was excellent. However, read the tags if you go to her other works. Not all of them have Happy Endings like this one, and she makes no apologies for it. She did make a point of responding to me on one of my comments and telling me to heed tags because she got a lot of hate on a couple of them, which is a shame. I think her writing is excellent.
This Way Lies Ruin by @lilia-ula was beautifully written and very sexual. If you like erotica and a well-told tale, this is great story for you.
Strategic Alliances by Wissixwe if you enjoy World building, focus on Leia and Luke as well as Ben and Rey. Amazing writer who was never on Tumblr or Twitter and that’s really didn’t get this promoted. Her writing style is wonderful and it feels like you’re really watching a Star Wars movie.
Chained by @carasstarwarsmusings (Cara Rose). Note that this is part 1 of 2, and part 2 is not finished. That I think I did really enjoy the first part and it’s 39 chapters.

“So- you liked your birthday?” she managed to ask between kisses.
Just as breathless as she was, Ben nodded firmly. “I loved it,” he murmured, his lips brushing hers. “When’s yours?”
It’d probably been his hands on her waist, or the way his voice dropped an octave every time he seemed to reach that careless, playful side of him, but Rey could feel a wave of shivers travel down her body as her own voice seemed to lower as well. “I had to guess yours,” she reminded him with a smile.

My favorite Reylo trope has always been Kylo and Rey sleeping in each other’s arms: doesn’t have to be sexual, just sleeping. Because to take those characters to a point where that’s possible almost always involves one hell of a story. You have enemies on opposite sides of a war and end with them having enough wary trust to sleep entwined, a tender, vulnerable thing that’s more romantic and carries more weight than a hundred declarations of love.
I completely second this.

Yeah I know...I haven’t posted any writing yet. I’ve been trying to get back to Not for the Life of Me but I’ve had a lot of work-related stress pop up in my life, and even though it’s a 1920s Screwball Comedy AU that is based on one of my favorite musicals and supposed to be fun and upbeat and cheery...I can’t handle office conflicts right now, but don’t worry! It’s just on hold still, I’ll get back to it. In the meantime I’m going to try to start fresh and try some new ideas that’ve been floating around in my head for a while now.

Apparently, that is true according to ET! Glad to hear it. She’s a wonderful actress and I’m so happy that she’s able to continue her mom’s legacy in the series (and I like Connix too).
The late actress will make her last appearance as Leia in the upcoming film via unused footage from Star Wars: The Last Jedi, and as her daughter, Billie Lourd, describes, it will be “magical.”
“I gotta watch myself because the Star Wars PD is going to come get me, but it is incredible,” Lourd, who plays Lieutenant Connix in the latest Star Wars trilogy, tells ET. “I’ve read the script and I’ve been on set. I was on set for, like, three weeks back in September, and it is going to be magical.”
“I can’t say much more, but I’m so excited about it and so grateful to be a part of it,” she adds. “Star Wars is my heart. I love it.”
Can’t wait to see her in action, though it’s very interesting that she was filming back in September. Wonder what that means for the rest of the Resistance team?

Darth Vader’s stunt double Bob Anderson on the set of Empire Strikes Back
A champion fencer who won several competitions while in the British Royal Marines, Bob Anderson represented Great Britain at the Helsinki 1952 Summer Olympic Games, and the World Championships in 1950 and 1953 in the saber event. He finished tied for fifth in the team sabre event at Helsinki in 1952.
Following this carrier, Anderson went to Hollywood, where he worked as a fight choreographer and trainer for Errol Flynn. Anderson subsequently went on to be involved in all three of the original Star Wars films. Anderson did not receive much recognition for his work for years after their initial release. Mark Hamill in 1983 revealed, “Bob Anderson was the man who actually did Vader’s fighting. It was always supposed to be a secret, but I finally told George I didn’t think it was fair anymore. Bob worked so bloody hard that he deserves some recognition. It’s ridiculous to preserve the myth that it’s all done by one man.” Anderson in 1994 specified that for The Empire Strikes Back and Return of the Jedi he staged the lightsaber duels and also wore the Vader costume in fight scenes. David Prowse, who played Vader, said he did his own swordplay in the first Star Wars film but afterward, “having one of the principals do his own stunts made [the filmmakers] very weird from an insurance point of view.”
Anderson continued to work in cinema for the next 30 years and was responsible for the swordsmanship in many films, including Highlander, The Princess Bride, The Three Musketeers, The Mask of Zorro, Pirates of the Caribbean: The Curse of the Black Pearl and The Lord of the Rings film trilogy. Shortly before his death, he was working on The Hobbit. He had a reputation for being a perfectionist, with director Martin Campbell giving him the nickname “Grumpy Bob”. Anderson was interviewed at length for the 2009 documentary on cinematic sword-fighting, Reclaiming the Blade, where he commented, “I never took up the sword, I think the sword took me up.
