Cinderella’s Shoe

Today at work they had me scrubbing the floors with a cleaner that gave me a rash in my hands. As I did that a group of men walked past me, all dress very nicely, and in my mind the fantasy started. One of them will see me on the floor struggling, tell me to get up and clean myself and tell me “You don’t have to do this anymore. “and he will hold my hand and I won’t look back because I'm saved.  

But the group of men passed by me and didn’t even glance my way. For a moment it bothered me but it shouldn’t. I consider myself a feminist I should know I only need myself. That’s when I started thinking that we are so engraved since we are little kids about the prince coming in to save us that you could be the biggest feminist and still fall for the trope.  

For some reason it feels nice when a man just helps us. Like deep down you want someone to know that even though they know you can do it they got you. That you don’t have to do it alone. At my job most are men. And sometimes I will have to move, long distances, items that weight more than 40 pounds with no help. I see them talking and laughing while I walked past them struggling thinking I wish I could be saved. I don’t even want them toc carry the damn thing. I would be happy for one of them to take one side and me the other and do the job together. Especially when they're doing nothing.  At the end of the night my back hurts and I wish I could get home and someone give me a nice message and tell me you did a good job today. Again, wanting to be saved.  

I can tell myself a million times that I have saved myself today. That I pay all my bills with no help. That no one gives me anything and I’m ok with that. But just like Cinderella I want that push. I want someone to see my struggle and pull a shoe that fits into my life and tell me “now you don’t have to struggle alone. I’m here. I will listen to you. I will talk to you. When you fall to the ground crying, I will lift you up and make you laugh so your tears dry up.”

Today started out as a normal day of me fooling around on DTI, and then I realized that I could make a Film Nior-esque neopet. Then I realized that I could actually have a old-timey detective neopet.

I’ve now spent almost all of my neopoints (3+ million) in a 12-hour period, but I am the proud owner of Privateye the Shoyru. I CAN’T WAIT TO WRITE HIS STORY!!!!!!!!!!! MF IS IN BLACK AND WHITE!

You know we love to get our pom pom on…these colorful puffs of joy provide endless possibilities; and this time we got creative by applying them to a beaded button base to create charms that give off some serious flower power. Used as a keychain or to add a punch of personality to a neutral accessory, this creation will leave you chic & cheerful! 

To create: Attach a jump ring to the back of a beaded button. Loop a piece of paracord (approx. 24" long) with a keychain through the jump ring; knot ends of paracord. Cut the end off the paracord with scissors and use a lighter to seal in the edges. Glue pom poms around the beaded button with a glue gun. Attach your creation to your favorite bag, ours is the Cynnie Belt Bag by Elizabeth and James. Get creative and DIY a few to layer together.
