you held your breath as you stood before the beautiful house. you had been there before but this was your first time seeing seonghwa’s mom in person. to be honest, you were nervous.
you walked to the door and rang the doorbell.
“y/n! finally!” seonghwa exclaimed happily, wrapping you in a tight hug, taking in your fresh scent. you nodded, “i brought cupcakes.” seonghwa pulled away as you handed him a basket full of colorfully decorated cupcakes.
“is your mom here yet?” you asked while taking your shoes and coat off, not forgetting to put on the slippers seonghwa had bought for you. he shook his head and made his way to the kitchen with the cupcakes then walking to the living room, you following right after to meet the others who were all spread across the armchairs and couches, stuffing their faces with snacks and watching tv. you were the first guest to show up, you observed.
as soon as san’s eyes landed on you, he jumped up from his seat to greet you with the warmest smile. “how are you?” he asked, picking up a bowl of chips, offering them to you. you complied and took a few chips, munching on them, “fantastic, now that i’m here. on another note though, how come am i the first one to arrive? i thought the other guests would be here before me-” you explained when you were interrupted by the clicking sounds coming from the front door. “we’re here!”
seonghwa took your hand, taking a look at your eyes and led you to greet his mother. “ah, y/n! you look even more beautiful in person,” his mother’s compliments made you blush a little. “thank you, mrs. park,” you smiled as she took you in for a short hug.
“my handsome seonghwa! it’s been long since i’ve seen you,” she said, cupping seonghwa’s cheeks with her hands, cooing at his smiley son. seonghwa was really happy.
while the other guests with plastic bags full of ingredients for the perfect family dinner made their way indoors through the narrow hall, you helped seonghwa’s mother with her coat. ”have you been eating well, dear?” she interrogated with a gentle, motherly tone. you chuckled softly, ”of course! seonghwa’s cooking is always so delicious! i wonder where – or who he learned it from.”
when the cooking was finished and the table was set with the most aesthetically pleasing decorations – thanks to you – it was time to sit down. everyone helped each other with handing over the food and drinks, all while enjoying the company of their closest family and friends.
all of a sudden, seonghwa’s mother, who was sitting in the opposite end of the table, decided to boast, ”everyone, isn’t y/n the best daughter in law you would hope for? she is so helpful with everything!” cheeks flushed, you looked around to see everyone agreeing and nodding their heads. ”and her visuals? wah,” seonghwa teased while tossing his arm around your shoulder.
”no question about it,” she cleared her voice, ”and she has helped you so much with your self-esteem, right?” she continued. seonghwa nodded, ”exactly. i couldn’t be more grateful for her.”
”and if i may add, ’hwa has improved so much with his performance during training, which i thought to be impossible,” hongjoong said, flashing a soft smile. the other boys nodded in agreement.
”y/n has managed to make the dorm even more homey while she’s visiting,” yeosang added. yeosang had been your friend ever since seonghwa introduced you to the others, and so he had became your almost-best friend. he didn’t have to hold back his thoughts when he knew you would always share his opinions.
”and now i have someone to goof around with,” yunho laughed.
”i just... thank you all. you’ve made me feel so welcome here, always, even if i have had a bad day,” you confessed with tearful eyes, clutching your shirt’s collar. ”of course!” the boys exclaimed, almost in unison, which made your small tears fall down.
”oh, dear, don’t cry! it’s a happy moment,” seonghwa’s mother handed you a tissue. you took the tissue and dried your eyes and wiped your slightly runny nose, ”i know!”
seonghwa pulled you closer to him, making your cheeks flushed.
