July 2022 Mangum Dental Mouth-of-the-Month Small Space Small Tooth
This patient was missing a tooth, but the space had closed and there wasn’t enough room for a regular-sized tooth. We managed to place a small tooth and it made all the difference for her smile.

June 2022 Mangum Dental Mouth-of-the-Month How can I close the spaces between my teeth?
This patient didn’t like the spaces between her teeth and gaps drew attention away from her smile. We used clear plastic aligners to rotate teeth and close the gaps for a gorgeous result.

April 2022 Mangum Dental Mouth-of-the-Month What is periodontal disease?
Periodontal diseases, or periodontitis, is an inflammatory process in the bone, tissue, and supporting structures surrounding teeth. In this case it resulted in the loss of a front tooth. The tooth was replaced by a bridge.
March 2022 Mangum Dental Mouth-of-the-Month How much difference can a smile make?
Smiles are foundational to our appearance, non-verbal communication, and even our state of mind. Are you having a bad day? Try smiling. The effect can be instantaneous. For these reasons, we believe at Mangum Dental we are making a difference. This patient has some large fillings on his front teeth. They were staining and breaking down. This patient elected to have 5 crowns placed on his front top teeth. This is the result.

January 2022 Mangum Dental Mouth-of-the-Month What is a dental crown? What is tooth bonding?
This patient was dissatisfied with the appearance of his smile. The right front teeth were discolored and one of the teeth was rotated and had a root canal. The other teeth were straight and were beautifully white. You might be surprised at the simplicity of this treatment. We decided to crown the darker tooth because of the color, strength, and position. The central incisor was treated with a resin filling or sometimes called bonding. The result was pleasing to both the patient and the dental team.

This was an unfortunate tooth fracture that was simply and easily repaired with a resin restoration. Resin is used in dentistry for routine fillings as well as cosmetic restorations. Routine fillings can replace areas of cavities. With the proper technique, the resin can be blended in an artistic way to create natural-looking tooth structure replacement as well as bonding to change the shape of teeth.

What is an easy way to improve the appearance of my teeth?
Dentin bonding has many applications and advantages in dentistry. It is simply white filling material (composite resin) bonded to your tooth structure. Usually, it does not require removing natural tooth structure nor does the patient need a shot to numb the tissue. This procedure can be used to repair a fracture, fix a cavity, or to improve cosmetics. This patient had small misshapen, and stained upper lateral incisors. In about 30 minutes the teeth were bonded and beautified. If you have questions about dental options for your teeth feel free to call for a consultation. Find us online at www.MangumDental.com.

What is an enameloplasty?
Enamel is the outer layer of a tooth and plasty means to reshape or recontour. This patient was seen for a routine dental cleaning. I almost had to beg this patient to let me reshape the front left tooth. This procedure took 3 minutes, required no anesthesia, and cost the patient $0. Sometime minor recontouring of teeth can make a drastic difference.

Short-term orthodontics is an excellent way to straighten teeth in adults. At our office we use Invisalign clear tray therapy as well as 6-Month Smiles with brackets and wires. This patient had the 6-month smiles braces and we think the result was phenomenal. You can find out more about us at www.mangumdental.com or www.bagdaddental.com.
June 2020 Mangum Dental Mouth-of-the-Month Crown Lengthening and New Crowns
We needed to correct the cosmetics of the two front teeth, but as we studied her smile we noticed that the gums didn’t match from the right side to the left. We referred her to the gum specialist to make both sides symmetrical and we finished with two new front crowns. The results are beautiful!
May 2020 Mangum Dental Mouth-of-the-Month
This patient broke his front teeth and didn’t like the appearance of his smile. How did we fix them? We made a new denture for his upper teeth to replace the broken one. When we finished, he couldn’t stop smiling, and either could we.
