Caine - The Amazing Digital Circus
Two Hours until I go to the finale screening. To everyone else, have fun and remember, NO SPOILERS!
Profile Character Banner
Featuring a lot of my major OCs all together in one. A fun group shot of my creative ambitions and artistic folly. Made it as a background banner for my different social media pages.
Dream Dragons
Part of a character design challenge for myself to develop some new dragon designs. Trying out different body types, colors, snouts, horns, and eyes.
Now that were on the Dream Dragons design, a little world lore as I've developed it so far. Dream Dragons live in an ethereal realm connected to people's dreams. These dreams manifest as shooting stars that fly across the sky and possess energy that gets turned into magic. Dream Dragons harvest these stars use them in machines that converts them into pure magical energy. This energy is transferred back to earth where it spreads throughout the world where those dreams come from, producing ideas and emotions in people to varying degrees, it can even be harnessed in acts of magic by Earthly Dragons and other magical beings that create legends and sparks the imagination in others. Imagination of course produces dreams which appear in the dream realm and the process starts all over again.
The reason most Dream Dragons carry nets is so that they can catch the dream stars as they fly across the sky.
Earthly Dragons
Part of a character design challenge for myself to develop some new dragon designs. Trying out different body types, colors, snouts, horns, and eyes.
In a way, I’m working off of Zenith, and calling them “Earthly” is to differentiate them from the “Dream” dragons I'm going to design after my other dragon OC Glimmer. Earthly ones, being bulky, reptilian or mythical, think like your traditional fantasy dragon, just no wings so they’re mostly present on the ground, in the woods, by the sea, or hidden in caves or high up on mountain tops. When I get to the Dream dragons you’ll see how their more fairy like, have feathery wings, and live primarily in the ethereal dream realm.
My main objective is making them all distinctive, colorful, cartoony, and most importantly, cute. 🥰
All Together Now
My fractured psyche in the form of 6 colorful cartoon critters.
We Lost Our Human - Full Illustration Tribute
This series/game/movie was phenomenal. Just so much was cramped into one playthrough, and so much that you could've missed and gone back to watch again. You'd rarely go through without something being just a little bit different because of your decisions, and I was so behind that. It really felt like a massive multiversal adventure.
A Very Little Elfmas
Set them to the tune of your Holiday favorites.
Rankin Bass Draw 20 (Day 20) - Mother Nature
Lovely lady that Mother Nature. Had a wonderful time over designing this outfit.
And that's it. Thank you for following along. I'm glad I was able to stay consistent on these. I want to try and do more of these Draw 20 series in the future, maybe not to this scale though.
Happy Holidays Everyone!
Rankin Bass Draw 20 (Day 19) - Jingle and Jangle
I know including two characters as one is a bit cheating (and I even snuck in the Head Elf from Rudolph), but I figured these two would share one brain cell, so it probably wouldn't count.
I imagine, if the various specials of Rankin Bass were merged together more seamlessly, Jingle and Jangle would be the bumbling assistants to the Head Elf from Rudolph. That would make Jingle's title as "Number 1 Elf" make more sense and why his uniform would be so different from the regular toy elves like Hermy.
And it would make Elf Practice even more MANDATORY!
Rankin Bass Draw 20 (Day 18) - Father Time
Time marches on for us all.
Admittedly I'm starting to get worn down by this challenge to draw 20 characters. I'm not sure I'm giving my 100% to the last few. That's why I stopped at 20 instead of going all the way to Christmas or the end of the month. Still got two more to go and I'm really excited about these last two (though one of them's a cheat bit of a cheat to this challenge).
Rankin Bass Draw 20 (Day 17) - Winterbolt
Here's a deep cut for ya. Winterbolt is closest Rankin Bass has to an over arching villain, though it’s only known when viewed through his debut film, the often overlooked “Rudolph and Frosty’s Christmas in July”.
A culmination of all the specials up to that point though it probably wasn’t intended at the time.
Rankin Bass Draw 20 (Days 16) - Bumble
Oh Bumble, what are we gonna do with you.
Also, a slightly intentional callback to the 1989 Rudolph VHS which is the version I would watch at my grandparents' house when I was little: https://vhscollector.com/movie/rudolph-red-nosed-reindeer-0
Rankin Bass Draw 20 (Days 14-15) - Karen and Hocus
Not much to Karen that I can gleam. She's a sweet girl who's mostly the point of view friend character to Frosty. Almost like a Wendy to Peter Pan relationship and it feels like that dynamic should have been play up more in the subsequent sequels then what we got. Like, it's in the song, "he'd be back again someday", but none of the sequels had a returning character.
Rankin Bass Draw 20 [Days 12-13] - Winter Warlock and Topper
Aren’t these two adorable.
Rankin Bass Draw 20 (Day 11) - Jack Frost
Personally, more of a fan of the anti-hero Jack Frost from Frosty’s Winter Wonderland than the 1979 heroic version.
We are now at the second Winter themed Rankin Bass character (not counting Frosty). You’re going to be seeing a lot of those soon.
Rankin Bass Draw 20 [Day 10] - Sam the Snowman
Halfway there.
Holly Jolly Christmas is my favorite Christmas song. All the Rudolph songs are Christmas classics, and Burl Ives sing the three best ones in it.
