elated to have you...
i'll belatedly let you go!
I’m here for- Women, Trans people, People of Color, Queer People, Disabled People etc. in a comfortable space to express their alternative (but really, only Goth *with its many subsets* and Rockabilly) inclinations. I put people who don’t fit that category in because well, I can. The problem is, the stuff I see in Magazines like Goth Beauty and Auxilary and all that shit doesn’t reflect my world. My world is not full of cis, thin, white men and women all the time, so you’re not gonna see them here all the time. I do, when I look at these magazines/film/media outlets, and I find a problem with that- so I made this.
I also feature art and science that I admire, and cultural exhibits that appeal to my macabre sensibilities here. I also post a lot of gorgeous fashion/etsy shit that encourages me to make my own. I am also here for music of the countercultures that I choose to focus on, especially when there’s involvement by marginalized groups. I can express myself here, and I will starting today.
This Darklingdarling Baby has a voice and it projects volumes.
I also have theme days depending on whether I tumble or not :)
The the days are:
Alchemy/Magick Mondays
Teatime Tuesday
Wednesday Night Creature Feature
Music Appreciation Thursday
Feasting Friday
...and Sat.Sun. Days are for rest and knowledge and general laziness(when I haven't already ignored the rest of the days)
Volcanic black sand beach in Amed, Bali. The most gorgeously surreal beach I’ve ever seen. Makes you feel like you’re walking on the ashes and bones of ancient earth.
People who treat others like shit in order to “show how the real world is”
Are literally the biggest contributors to why the world is the way it is tbh

while i’ve been accepting that academia may not be a good environment for me and my mental health, i’m still really passionate about my former research interests and hope to find something out there in the real world that allows me to use my knowledge of depression, anxiety, and substance use disorders in lgbt/latin@ populations.
when not being a total psychology research nerd, i can be found freaking myself out thanks to my love of the creepy, gloomy, and macabre. my cliche goth levels are pretty damn high, yes, but that doesn’t stop me from drunkenly dancing to cumbia at family gatherings. if anything, that just enhances my goth cred.
Check out the interview I, Lary Love Dolley, took part in for the Goths Around the World article in issue 46 where I discuss this very blog, being a black goth female horror filmmaker/writer/actor and my experiences within the gothic subculture.
there’s a lot of unspoken pressure to keep liking the things you used to like and to keep dressing the way you’ve always dressed and to never question what you believe in and basically “be yourself” has slowly morphed into “be what everyone knows you as” but trust me when i say if you just give it up and simply make decisions and take actions based purely on what would make you happy, you’ll gain a very comforting sense of self peace
